Default Update with picture: The V-1 SKS Brass Deflector......

I wanted to reload for my SKS but it shot brass all over the place and I only recovered two cases..

No problem. I could shoot cheap, Russian ammo. Then the shortage hit and I could shoot 'cheap', Russian ammo at $25/20 rounds. So I hope I can reload for it.

So behold. The SKS Brass Deflector I tinkered together. I hope to try it out this week. It seems pretty solid so hopefully I won't have to make a V-2.

Well, I tried to attach the picture and got a 'token error'. I'll have to get a picture that will work.

UPDATE: I tried it out yesterday. It needs some tweaking but it will work fine. I'm going to cut the back in some to allow easier reloading and put some rubber/foam lining on the deflector to make it take some of the 'violence' out of the ejected brass. Then I'll Loctite it together.

Default UPDATE: Finished project pic.......

I cut slot to aid in loading. Added neoprene under overhang with 'flap' to catch strays. Added some tubing for scratch resistance on the threaded rods. Put together and Loctite where needed.

Now, maybe I can catch the brass to reload for it.

Default Considerations....

Don't mar anything up.

Easy to install and remove, no tools.

Keep the sights open and shootable

Don't interfere with grip

Avoid the bolt

Lightweight

Loading

Cost about $40 in materials. Got plenty of bar and sheet metal left for another try.

Would I do it different? Probably Ok for first shot. This took time, I don't know if I'm for for the V-2 version.
