Odd balls you acquired, and kept because they're odd.
Well back in the day, I would buy entire collections
from non-gun families that had a need to liquidate them.
No "cherry picking", I'm not leaving them left with the same
problem they had before I showed up....firearms they don't
know how to liquidate.
I take it all and solve their problem, or I take nothing.
You do acquire some odd balls and junk in the process
that you would have never sought out to buy.
I kept a few, this one is useless to me, I'd never hunt with it,
and has no collector value.
But it's oddity just struck me, and kept it, it's a hoot to shoot
at the range.
H&R 157....Mannlicher stocked, color case hardened, 30-30.
Made late 70's to early 80"s.
Put a vintage Weaver K4 on it.
Not really worth much, I just like it because it's an odd ball.
Let's see your odd balls.

Russian 1895 Nagant revolver with Finnish capture marks. It came out of the Tula Arsenal in 1940.

GEW 88/05 that came in a job lot. The stock is cracked so I haven't had the heart to try and move it on. I should find someone good at wood to fix it.

I honestly don't remember the last time someone posted a gun I'd never even heard of, quite cool.

The H&R's have a great following on Greybeards both for barrels and guns. I really like the look of the Mannlicher stock.

I bought a Unique 22 pistol at auction for $27.50 back in 80s. Blue was off, plastic grips were warped and cracked. Running gears and bore looked good. Fixed sights. It shot unbelievable for 32 size pistol. I carried it for years as a beater. Then one day I realized what was the use of having a sack of good 22 handguns and not using them. Sold it a couple years ago so that I wouldnt be tempted to use it again.

My oddity is a Mauser Broomhandle, no 2 parts matching, non-import stamped, apparently upgraded to a red 9 configuration. The barrel had been hacked off the upper frame, and a threaded ribbed (finned?) barrel attached.

A U.S. Arms Div/A.I.G. (Mossberg) Abilene 44 Magnum. We had a good discussion about them here a while back.

How about a Colt Official police?
But in 38-200, complete with British proofs. I bought it because it was unusual and I like five inch barreled guns. I have kept it because it is a really sweet shooter.

Colt Army Special in 41 LC==NOT A DOG. Poor finish but shoots well.

This is my "oddball"... a Winchester 1887 10 ga. lever action shotgun.
Meant for black power shotshells, it has the shorter 2-7/8" chamber of the day for 10 ga. so unless I handload, shooting it is out.
Why did I buy it? An impulse buy in the early 80's thinking I could use it for CAS when I first started out, but 10 ga, was subsequently disallowed.
I've hung onto it for it's looks and uniqueness... and the fact that the 1887 was made famous by it's use in the Terminator 2 movie doesn't hurt either

Mine is a 45 wildey mag. It is the 475 wildey necked down to 45. Always wanted a 44 automag but settled for wildey. Not really fun to shoot, like shooting a 12 ga shotgun pistol with a 8” barrel. Luckily, I bought the dies with it so I can still load it.

I had a Japanese Type 26 revolver for a while. 4 digit serial number. Likely made late 1890s. 9x22 rimmed. Never bought any ammo for it. (Only found one place that had it).

That gun in the OP is a for-real wall hanger. It would be in my living room, no matter who much the Old Girl complained.
I'm trying to get a single shot 12 gauge with a ridiculously long barrel off a friend. He will sell it to me but we live 250 miles apart and I haven't gotten up there yet. I doubt it really gains much performance from the long barrel, but I want it anyway. I would take it turkey hunting. Might even hang it on the wall.
Maybe I will need some of that Ren Wax after all.

Nah, this is a real Buck Rogers pistol.

You know the dream where you're in a gun fight and the pull the trigger and it weighs a million pounds and never goes off? This is the gun that inspired it.
I strangely enjoy it.

These 3 early revolvers are my odd balls, although the S&W 1 1/2 is not that odd. The 7mm Belgium Pinfire does not work but of course I had to have at least 6 rounds just in case I could get it fixed. The H D H Constabulary revolver made in Belgium should work well as soon as I get some more 32 Short Colt rounds. It even has a manual safety which is only the third revolver I have ever owned with a manual safety.

When my wife's grandmother died the only family she had left was my wife and two of her cousins who are very gun shy. When they found this little jewel they immediately decided to give it to me, the gun crazy cop. We later determined that my wife's late father had bough the gun for his mother after she had been mugged. It ain't much to most, but to us it's priceless......H&R 32 S&W Snubby

I believe my brother has the Sears 12 gauge bolt action I first took duck hunting. To double on ducks with a bolt action means they were really flying heavy that day.

My Winchester Thumbtrigger in .22 short, .22 long and .22 extra long.
The bottom rifle is a Hamilton 027. It is made entirely of sheet metal including the receiver and the sheet metal wrapped brass barrel. Probably the cheapest .22 ever.

Actually.. Star Wars, Hans Solo's famous blaster was built on a broomhandle Mauser.

This late '60s Italian made "Handi-Gun" really is handy.
It's a breech loaded .410 with a removable stock (that doesn't get removed). It's very well made, and the balance is surprisingly good. Fun to shoot. Great for pest control. They are available with shorter barrels, but the longer barrel was required for importing to the U.S.
