Default Dad-gum things are multiplyin'

Why did I wait until I get AARP mailings to discover this caliber niche?

I also confirmed yesterday what I'd only recently learned. A revolver in .32 'whatever' will chamber and fire the semi-rimmed .32 Auto. So, that makes five rounds that you can cycle through one? Pretty neat.

That Beretta is an absolute sweety to fire. That only drawback being the skinny panels of grasping grooves on the blowback slide. Not exactly like a Smith E-Z series pistol to cycle it, LOL.

The Seecamp is remarkably tolerable, also. However, I don't fancy wanting to shoot the .380 version of it. The same way I won't shoot .327 through the LCRx again. Just too much for me now .

Years ago I read a Skeeter Skelton article. It was World War II, and ammo was scarce. He had a friend with an owl head 32, and his mother owned a Colt Model M. So he would steal his mother's 32 ACP to shoot in his friends Iver Johnson 32 long.

When I got my first Smith hand ejector I gave that a try, and lo and behold it worked. The semi-rim on the 32 ACP allowed it to chamber and fire. I didn't use it often - I was set up to load 32 long so I had no need to use the ACP - but it was tucked away in my mind as a just in case.

Then I discovered that the maximum pressure for a 32 Smith & Wesson Long with 15,000 PSI. Pressures for a 32 ACP go 20,500. Every time I would shoot ACP in a Hand Ejector it was like shooting a proof load.

I have a couple of titanium J frame 32 H&R magnums, and I have no worries at all about shooting the ACP in them. But I no longer subject my 32 Hand Ejectors to the overload that is 32 automatic.

I have 2 of the Davis Derringers' in 32 ACP. The factory ammo they fire best with is Winchester Silver Tip Hollow Point. 2 shots from each barrel is a 4" group at 15 yards.

I use these in Cowboy Action shooting side matches called "Belly Gun" matches. I load ACP cases with an 84 grain lead bullet and a 32 S&W (short) powder charge.

One of the many courses of fire is, At 5 yards, shoot through a playing card sideways, you must cut the card completely in half to count! Longest string of hits wins the pot. Also can be scored most hits out of 5 shots, to keep the tip up revolver guys included. (my personal best is 3/5)
