Default HW - 45 pellet pistol

Picked this up at a air gun show a few weeks ago, enjoying shooting in the basement range. I don't know much about it, please share any information you may have. I f you own what what pellets do you shoot out of yours?

.177 cal.

I bought one of these as a teen (was the ultimate air gun back then) and still have it. And what's really crazy, they are still making it! Must have been in production for at least 35 years. Here's the link to the current product page, even available in English:

HW 45 - Weihrauch Sport

And just found a Wikipedia page:

Weihrauch HW45 - Wikipedia

I don't know much about the air guns but that is the same company that makes the revolvers EAA sells as the Windicator and the Bounty Hunter.

There are basically only two types of air gun pellets, Target and Hunting. Target pellets are hour glass shaped, the rear has a hollow base ant the front is flat. Hunting is the same basic shape but the front has a different shape, usually round or pointed. These have more weight and therefore more energy at the same velocity.

My air-gun is an old target rifle, I have never run a hunting pellet through it. The RWS target pellets come 250 to the tin and were fast and accurate to kill grown squirrels. You loose energy with distance so keep it close.

I told my kids I would skin them alive if they ever ran a BB through the gun! They never needed to because I had a whole sleeve of 10 tins (2500).

Rather than buy a special cleaning rod (or use a coat hanger[shudder]) just buy a pack of felt cleaning pellets.

Ivan
