My One and Only Artillery Luger
Yep.
Have owned this one for over thirty plus years.
Picked it up at a Dallas Market Hall gun show.
Had assistance from my resident Luger expert.
Tore it down right there on the spot to examine it.
Took it home. Ha.
enjoy,

That is a nice one! I have a one and only as well, a 1917 with drum but the stock, unfortunately, is a reproduction. I haven't found an original yet.

Now all you need is the holster stock and the snail drum!
Nice heater.

A unuque serial number too. I probably would run a few rounds thru it, then meticulously clean it and put it away. Very valuable Luger!

Nice LP08!
I have one left over, a DWM that came with an orig leather holster (portion of the stock).
It has one issue that when you shoot it the rear sight hikes up a click at a time per shot. Needs a new spring in there most likely but it's just fun to shoot anyway. All match except the mag of course.
The best shooter LP08 I ever had was a DWM LP08 upper on a WW2 Mauser P08 lower. The wear and finishes matched quite well dispite both being orig. Great shooter and flawless performance.
Sold it of course.

Leonardo, I have owned some 'shooters' in the very distant past. I chose to not shoot this gun.
Today's value of this Artillery is high enough to not want to chance a breakage of any sort.
So, I will just admire this beauty for the gem that it is.

There aren't any numbers on the front of the receiver? Or on the barrel? Look at the OP's 5th pic, that is the location where the 2 serial numbers I was asking about. If there is not one one the receiver I would be wary of it. Like any other pistol it should have a serial number.
Does the stock iron have a serial number? Is the wood marked in any way?

Very good point. Lots on mismatched guns, but with no numbers, it could get interesting. Attached the three locations of a full serial (at least the digits). If you look closely, you can see that the receiver has been force-matched to the frame and new barrel during the rebuild after WW I.

My next door neighbor had a civilian kit from 1918. .30 Mauser with the stock, holster and the snail drum mag. Had the original typewritten ATF letter from '73 when he asked for clarification if it were legal to use with the shoulder stock attached. It is.
He passed away, and I believe his son now has it. Yes, the family knows how rare and special the whole kit is. It includes the hand wrtitten receipt from 1918 when it was purchased at a German sporting goods store. All numbers match, and match to the receipt and ATF letter.

One is enough if it's a good one. This one went from North Africa across Europe with my father-in-law, rode under his overcoat in a GI shoulder holster for years after, protected his only daughter and taught her to shoot and helped convince me to spend the past 40+ years with her. 1914 Erfurt

Congratulations. Very nice. I always wanted one and never quite pulled the trigger. Had been promised a nice bring back from a good friend, but it was removed from his estate immediately after his death and I am very glad that my friend did not know the circumstances. I am too cheap to pay what they are worth now. Like a few other guns, I should have bought one when I could and taken the time in the doghouse. Maybe I will buy a P08 mag at the next gun show. Enjoy and pass it ti the right heirs!

Those sure are some nice specimens. My friend's dad brought one home from the Big War. His dad was long gone. My buddy, Don, had possession of
it. Don went home after work one day to find he was robbed, and the Ruger was gone. Damned shame. Junky(s) probably got $15 for "that old gun", maybe enough for a couple stamp bags. Don never shot the gun, but he said it had the holster and looked like excellent condition. I think of that every time I see a Luger.

She pulled it on me, sort of. Early in our dating we were sitting on her couch when I told her I was going to the range. She asked to go along and proceeded to pull the Luger from under the couch. I was impressed and thankful I hadn't "gotten fresh" as we used to say.
