A friend, who is an attorney, is helping a friend who recently lost his wife to value and "re-home" some of the wife's family guns. All were easy except the one below.
As best as I can discover through research the gun is an 1849 Colt Pocket Pistol. The serial number dates in at 1854. It is a four inch barrel, .31 caliber cap and ball revolver. To be 165 years old it is in pretty good condition. It functions and locks up tight. The grips are in really good condition. It has the brass backstrap and all numbers match.
He is trying to get a value on the gun at retail. He is trying to decide whether or not to sell it.
Sorry that I only took one photo of it when I was looking at it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Bill
