So frustrating missing a magazine
I have a VP9 that I keep on the top shelf of my gun safe with 6 magazines all lined up nice and neat. Haven’t been out shooting in over a year due to Covid but finally get to go this week.
Opened the safe and only 5 in there today?????
I can’t remember the last time I took out the VP9 to oil. It’s my range gun as I prefer revolvers
I pulled apart the inside of the safe
Looked in the room it’s stored in
Looked in all rooms in the house
All dressers in the house
The garage
The range bag
In my two favorite chairs
All my coats
Nothing
It did not leave this house so it has to be somewhere
So frustrating as I have no idea where it went
That’s why I like revolvers - you put them in the safe and the cylinder is still there when you take them back out :-)
Time to get a 929 and be done with semi automatics

Haven't experienced that with gun parts, etc., but certainly with a lot of other things!
Hope it turns up for you soon.

Look in whatever box you keep leather goods in and check the magazine carriers.

Be glad its only a mag.
I misplaced an entire gun.
Went shooting/fishing for a weekend with a buddy. Six months later I have a raccoon up a tree in my yard, and look for my 22A with a red dot. No where to be found. Finally just grab my duck gun and a load of 4s and kill the raccoon.
Go back inside and tear the place apart looking for my 22A.
Call up buddy and ask by any chance he has it. He digs around and sure enough there it is in a hard case mixed in with his tackle boxes.

First, it sucks to lose a mag...any mag. I hope you find it soon.
But why only 6 mags? A pistol like the VP9 deserves more. I keep 12 15-round mags and 4 20-round mags in my range bag. Methinks you need to invest in more boolit feeders.

Yep, this happens to me from time to time. Never guns, but the last one was my Benchmade CLA.
Had back surgery in mid February and another in early March. Somewhere in between the first and second surgery in the fog of pain meds the CLA disappeared. I remember very clearly the last time I used it. For the life of me I cannot remember what I did with it after tha. I was not carrying it because I rarely left the house and I was stuck wearing sweats for about 2 months.
So soon as I was able to drive I did what you always do when you want to find a lost item. Replace it. That was two weeks ago and still no sign of the old CLA.
Hope you have better luck with the mag

I've had the opposite problem. I run across a loose magazine somewhere and have no idea what it fits or even if I still own that gun.

Close, but no cigar. Gotta be parallel universe. Happens constantly here. My neighbor has 2 cars: green, white, and red. (No, he's not Italian. ) He's tolerant of me, but I'm not wrong on the colors of his SUVs from day to day. Aggravating, I know, given the $ of magazines now.

Sorry you lost a mag. hopefully it is found soon. I am sure if someone were to search my apartment they would find random pistol and rifle magazines in various places. I try to keep them in either the range bag, or an old suitcase repurposed as magazine and part storage. Invariably i will buy more magazines, go to the range, etc. and eventually misplace one or two.

True frustration is when you are missing a magazine-and it's THE magazine. I bought a CZ 511 25 years ago, didn't buy extra magazines at the time. Try finding them today!

I am glad I am in good company having things disappear. I was working on my Dillion reloader and pulled the powder funnel for a 308 out, and put another caliber funnel in it. I told myself to put it in a spot so I can re-install it afterwards. Yep, it is in a safe spot, dang if I can figure out where I put it!! Having more stuff requires realizing that a note book and labels would help. Now if I can only find the notebook!!

I've learned over the years to never do what you did (lined up nice and neat on a safe shelf), as the same thing happened to me.
Bought one of those small canvas tool bags and put all my old OEM mags into that (pre 1990 M41 mags-15, OEM Colt ACE mags-6, Ruger MKI mags, GI 1911 mags-6 or 8. Got more than that, but the aftermarkets are in a separate bag. The tool bag isn't large, but big enough to not be easily overlooked, or, misplaced.
Right now, I DO have a 1971 Walther PPKs hiding somewhere in the house that has beem hiding for close to a year. Over the last 50 years it has done this on more than a few occasions, but this is the longest stretch.
It will turn up, sooner or later.
Rob

The memory is the first thing to go .... How old are You ?
I couldn't find a gun I knew was in the house ...looked everywhere , I just knew one of my daughters low life boy friends had stolen it ... I called police and reported it stolen . 3 years later I find it in a closet at my office ... Oh yeah ... forgot I had put it there when we went on vacation ... office had burglar alarm ... but my dumb self had totally forgot . Called Police to report stolen gun found ... Lady laughed ...said that happens more than you would think !
I bet it's somewhere , hidden or you lent it to a family member because they only had one and they didn't return it .
Just keep telling yourself ... it's somewher and one day ...when you aren't actively looking for it ...you going to find it !

What I do is BUY another ... that's why I have like 3 or 4 of everything easily missplaced ...got this from my Dad ...he never bought one of anything ... always insisted on having a spare or backup !
Can't find something ... looking and finding it ...way too hard ... go to store and buy another ...don't forget a spare!

Once lost a magazine for a Colt M1903 Hammerless in .32ACP. Looked high and low as it was the only mag that I had for the pistol. A friend has a gun shop, so went there looking for a mag. All he had was a M1903 mag for a .380. Tried .32ACP's in it and they worked. Used that mag for a couple of years in the M1903 .32 and had no problems. Sold the M1903 to fund something else and about a year after that I found the original mag. It was in the bottom of the center console of my truck.........

Like a sock in the dryer, it morphed into a wire hanger in the upstairs closet.
Unfortunately, the process is irreversible.

Went over to my wife;s daughters place for a Easter meal and after we finished, I asked her to show me her new 9mm pistol.
She handed me the case and I opened it and noticed only one magazine.
So she brought out her other 9mm case and it had just one magazine in it...........
but it was the one that belonged to the fisrt pistol.
The "Search" was on...............
finally found the single stack mag in her range bag.
Glad that things are back to normal again.
I can see how some people get into a rush or hurry to go some where and just
shove a item away so that they can move on.
A "Treasure Hunt" now and then can be fun but it can really bug me if I find that I misplaced something.
One time I took my wallet out of my back pocket at the house, since it was bugging me.........................
that was interresting for a while !!

With the big jump in ambition and problem solving ability that came with my CPAP therapy, I went on a campaign to organize the ammunition, components and accessories in my house. The big rifle magazines and magazines for medium to full sized semiauto pistols were pretty easy. I had years before acquired a bunch of shoebox sized clear plastic boxes. Each type of magazine got its own box(es) and each box was labeled and put on a shelf.
The revolver speedloaders were simple too. Each group of speedloaders were put in a separate ziplock bag, together with one of the hanging cards to identify them.
Then there were the pockets pistols. To use the same type of boxes as were used for the magazines for the full sized semiautos created a lot of wasted space. Looking around the house, I saw the boxes that my sliced turkey came in from the market. When washed out and labeled, these boxes became perfect for holding spare magazines for the pocket pistols. And they cost nothing.

Drives me crazy to lose stuff. Somehow, the keys to the tractor, pole barn, and ranch truck went missing in the 25 yards between where I parked the tractor and the kitchen.
Last spring, went to pick up my favorite True Temper #1 shovel. Actually had my hand out to grab it when it just wasn't where it should have been. Obsessed over that all summer. In January, I was bringing in some firewood and the shovel was leaning on the wood pile. Why I put there, no one knows.

I can sympathize. I stashed a couple of bolts a few years back and can't find them now. I guess I need to go on a scavenger hunt.

No, they certainly are not. I wish I would've waited until the 17-round mags were out, but I didn't know they were in the pipeline. Now I don't want to start over with my collection, so I'll just be content with what I have.

That also seems like the most effective way to locate a lost item, go buy a replacement and the "lost" one makes a re-appearance shortly thereafter... seems like that's the way it always goes for me

If I thought it would fit I would send you one from a Remington R51 I just found a year after selling the gun.

I have found absent mags in the ammo box used for the gun. Specifically the Beowulf and the LMT 308.
