Bought Another AK Last Week.
Found a good deal on a Maadi in great shape.
Looking at a Norinco underfolder, or maybe one of those 10" AK pistols, I'd stamp it as a SBR and put a stock on it if I get one of those.
Might as well buy them while we can.

I have not done gun shows in 15 or 20 years, but still have some AK mags, some of the short 5 or 10 rounders and some 30's. What are these worth these days?

I got rid of my only AK a couple months ago and about twenty mags. Basically gave them away. Never been one to haggle over pennies. I kept my VZ58s though. Wont part with them while still above ground.

Very nice looking Maadi, best of luck with it.
AKs are often under rated, but they’re excellent rifles and great fun to shoot.
Enjoy your new rifle.

Unless they’re collectibles like Bakelites, most haven’t really run up in price much, if at all.

I went to one gun show recently, since all this started. Table had one like yours for $1,600.00 I thought that was sky high, walked past the table on the other side/row and it was sold. Show had been open about 30 minutes.

Some of the Chinese mags are worth GREAT multitudes!
Couldn't imagine paying $605 for a 20 round mag, plus it had a buy it now price of $1,500.
Last ones I bought not long ago were $18.99 each for 30 round metal ones.

Good-looking rifle! The only Maadis I remember are the ban type rifles with the crappy yellow wood thumbhole stocks and handguards. The furniture on yours looks very nice, and a lot like that on my Polish AKM.
I agree with you that you should get 'em while you can!
ETA. You probably already know this, but despite the underfolders winning the cool award, the fixed stock rifles are the best for comfort in shooting, even if the length of pull is short.

Only want it for the CooL factor. I actually hate folding stocks.
When I bought my WASR 10/63 the standard and folding stocks were the same price, $499 out the door. I went with the folder because the gun grabbers hate a folding stock. When I traded it towards my Polytech I got $1,100 in trade for it.
I just checked my Poly and Maadi stocks. The Maadi is one inch longer than the Poly.

Thumbhole stocks make guns more dangerous in CA.

I sold all my 7.62x39mm AKs last year except for one, my Norinco Hunter Sporter. I got rid of that this year. Only AK I have left is my Zastava M90NP in 5.56x45mm. That one I'm not getting rid of.

For coolness, I'd rate them as anything remotely resembling a "Krinkov" (SBR first, then pistols), underfolder, side folder, fixed stock, Dragunov-like thumbhole, and standard US ban thumbhole. For practical use, it's a fixed stock, side folder, and then underfolder. Looking back, I wish I'd bought them all with a fixed stock. At least the side folders are easy enough to switch to a fixed stock.
The commies in California would probably report a finger gun, if they can find any cops still willing to work on that side of the country!

It seems that the AK and AR market values have flip flopped from what it was 10 +/- years ago. Used to be you could grab AKs pretty cheap, around $400-$500, and ARs were $1,000+. Now it’s ARs that are a dime a dozen, with cheap ones around $500-$600, and AKs are $1,000+...! I think the import restrictions on Russian AKs kicked this trend off.
I prefer ARs, but like AKs, too. Picked up a new Bulgarian Arsenal AK, with side folder. They make a really nice AK, and they’re pretty desirable these days.
I agree with OP, grab them while you can!!

I bid on a like new Norinco pre ban underfolder yesterday.
It had 3 mags, and the original bayonet.
I walked away from my computer when the bids went past $2,750, which was my max bid.
Thats a few hundred more than I paid for my flawless Polytech a few weeks ago.
