What is the one gun you have been looking for and have not bought yet?
Like the title says, be it due to rarity, price, timing, all things considered, what is one you have not bought but have thought about?
I'll start. WW2 Winchester or Stevens Trench gun in 12 ga. Don't really come across them locally. While recently reviewing a popular auction site, I was surprised at the prices they are selling for.
Seems like every few years I recall this and it continues.

My nominee is a S&W Model 28. I've seen them for sale from time to time and a couple of them were reasonably priced (more than a year ago), but regrettably I still don't have one.

For me, a S&W Model 25-3 Anniversary Edition, .45 Colt. Would prefer a 4" barrel ,but would be happy with anything else, except the 8-3/8".

For me it's a simple 3" 686 Plus 3-5-7. Current production. Should be easy. Isn't.

I've been on the trail looking for a Chiefs Special pre-Mod.36, three screw variety. They are out there but seem to be playing turtle with me..... Looking for one in excellent condition perhaps with the box.

Model 315.
I am a huuge fan of Airweight K Frames. Have a quite a few Model 12s. This would be a great addition to the carry rotation.
They don't weigh much but people price them like they're made of gold.

Broomhandle Mauser. They’ve all been either too pricey or too dogged out or both. Someday......

I remember when those came out they had an available laser sight for it that would mount under the barrel. It was only the size of a carton of cigarettes!

What is the one gun you have been looking for and have not bought yet?
I’ve purchased a good number of guns on my very short list over the last year including a couple K-22 Outdoorsmans, Colt Woodsman(s), a beautiful old Winchester M94, and 2.5 and 6” Pythons. The one remaining is a blued 4” Python and then, I swear, I’m done!
And oh, maybe a Barrett 50 cal .....

I have many guns on that list, but the gun at the top, as I've mentioned many times before, is my grail gun, a S&W 640 no-dash. I've come close a few times while chasing one on gun auctions, but always ended up being outbid. Nowadays, even if I came across one at an outstanding price, I wouldn't be able to get one.
Still on my list, though.

Ever since late '59, when I would ride my bike to a nearby Kresge Five and Dime store, and buy another Mauser or Enfield, I kept wanting a 303 MKIII Jungle Carbine. Found a mint '46 at a LGS and bought it. And wanted a KAR 98, and sure enough, a few years ago at a LGS bought a '44 "bring Back" with serial numbered Bayonet with frog and original leather sling. Then again about 6 years ago, finally a 44 Inland Carbine. Then a 1903A3, to go along with my father-in-law's mint Garand.
But the firearm I have wanted for decades and decades, yet don't have yet is a 44 mag Ruger Deerslayer carbine. I know of a very early one but just can't justify its cost. Maybe someday. NV

Got several on my list, but the stars haven't aligned...
M28 4" - want an early N or S serial numbered gun, but prices have gone nuts in the last year. Haven't found the right gun at a price I'm willing to pay yet.
M18 - same problem. Nice one popped up here a few days ago... gone in 5 minutes!
M17 - haven't found the right gun at the right price yet. These haven't appreciated quite like the M18s, so odds are a little better.

As a longtime fan of all-metal DA/SA's, I've been wanting an HK P7 and a Walther P88. As a longtime cheapskate who's been able to find a lot of things at/under the $300 price point over the years, I've yet to come anywhere close.

I'm pretty much done with S&W's having accumulated everything (and then some) that's been on my want list.
The same goes for my Ruger SA list, what remains now is my Marlin want; a 1894CB in .32 H&R Magnum.

For me, it would be a Colt Metropolitan Mk3. This was the last Colt DA revolver authorized for patrol carrying by the NYPD.

A 32 Regulation Police Target, 4". The only couple I could have bought were too pricey. Now that I have sold off all early 32's, I just quit looking. I have gradually been reducing my collection to the ones I will shoot.

I keep searching my attic and garage for a .357 Magnum with the funny marking in the gate "Reg #x." No matter how hard I look, I can't find it. Since this house was built in 1888, it must be here, somewheres ... There is part of the crawl space I have never ventured into, maybe that's it.

A .455 Triplelock in shooter grade condition. Could even be rebated to .45 Colt and I wouldn’t be too upset as I still could shoot .455 in her.

Just two...so far.
Smith and Wesson pre-1986 Model 48
Winchester Model 1894 in .25-35
Unfortunately, I can't afford either, but it's fun to dream.

Just one more!
I hope I'm able to find a M29-6, blue, with a 8-3/8" traditional profile (non full lug) barrel. No luck so far & I'm afraid I'm running out of time. (health)

There are a bunch of guns I’d buy if I saw an example for a good price.
I don’t have a specific list: I know them when I see them.
