Just wondering who makes leather knife sheaths on the forum, I need a quality sheath made for a fixed blade knife, I just can't warm up to the Kydex, it may be just me but a knife belongs in leather! If anyone can help out or steer me in the right direction it would be well appreciated. Thanks.

I have made a few over the years. Not real difficult.

You can do it. Just take some poster board and make a pattern as to what you want. Make the blade area slightly oversized, else it will be too small once done (BTDT).

Then get some leather (for big knives, I use skirting leather. Mark and cut your leather from your patterns. Use a grooving tool to sketch your stitch areas, then a overstitch wheel to lay out your stitch pattern.

One of the hand stitchers will do a great job (they cost about 10 bucks)

Dye and seal the leather and you are done.

Greg Gutcher at Sullivan's Holster Shop, 2521 Success Dr Unit 1, Odessa, FL 33556(727-376-3209) makes all of the sheaths for Randall Knives and is considered the best in the country. Not cheap and there is a pretty good wait but first class stuff all the way.

Take the knife down to your local saddle repair shop. I've had miscellaneous things made through the years from the local saddle maker, belts included.

This is my first attempt at a knife sheath. I made the knife from an old sawmill saw blade and then figured I needed to learn how to make a sheath. I have some leather left over so if you want one like this ship me your knife so I make it fit. My email is in my profile or you can email me from my website in the signature line.

Gunnut, if you contact Ron, please tell him Bill from Maine said hi. I have some of those pouches and they are excellent for protecting a pocket knife and a bargain too.

That is a very nice piece of work. I'd like to have one like it if you ever feel in the mood to make me one. Email me price.
