May go down to Springfield next week for the day. I welcome any suggestions on what to see/do.
Trip pretty much revolves around going to S&W,perhaps doing some shooting at their range. Are tours of production facility available? If tours are available does anyone have contact info?Does S&W have any firearms for sale there?(I'm aware of requirement about being Mass resident or FFL) Is it possible to drop a gun off to have work done on it?
Thanks for Your Help,Kevin

Hi Kevin, there is a big gun show in West Springfield on March 14&15. Tours are held during the week & you can call customer support @ 1-800-331-0852. You can bring your gun to the front guard house and leave it there with them. They will sent it in the plant for any work. They usually call you with an estimate before they proceed. The range and factory store are in a seperate building a few miles away. Firearms can be purchased at the factory and shipped direct to your FFL dealer in Maine.Any M&P pistols purchased now will receive two free extra magazines.
We also have a large free gun museum at the Springfield Armory. Definitely a must see.
We also have the Basketball hall of fame here as well.
Where abouts in Maine do you live? I'am a life member at Kennebunk Fish & Game and a life member at North Berwick Rod & Gun Club.
Enjoy your visit,
Springfield Bob

Bob, I live in Wells. Gave up my membership at K'bunk Fish and Game,am quite active in No Berwick Rod & Gun. Indoor range there is coming along quite nicely.
I'm thinking I may have met you a couple of years ago at some of the falling plate matches.
Have you got a summer place at Beach Acres?
Thanks for the info Bob,hope to see you over at No Berwick soon. Kevin

Steve Rand says only frangable bullets at the new range. Has that changed at all? I only have lead or fmj. We also shoot at York County in Lyman.
Take care Kevin,
Bob

I remember you & your wife at the shoots. The frangable ammo is not a big deal, club picked up a bunch of 9mm & .38 bullets at a good price to sell to members. Loading them is pretty straight forward. Several of us have been playing w/them over the winter and have a good idea of the do's and don't's.
Hope to see you when you get up here. Take Care,Kevin

Last time I went was about three years ago, tours were by apointment only, and in groups of at least 5. If you were alone they would try to fit you in with a group. By the way I brought ear protection for the tour
