A 1911 .45, or a Marlin 39A made at least 20 years ago.
Both are classics.
Can’t go wrong with either (or both).

Have never been impressed enough with the Henry .22’s, .357’s or 44’s to seriously consider buying one.
They look and feel cheap to me.

Voted Ruger. My little 9mm 2.75" Speed Six from 1980 is as accurate as any of my 6" revolvers. And 9mm is affordable so I can shoot for an hour or two and not end up in the poor house!

Well, folks, time for an update. As I have stated earlier, I have decided to apply the best available strategy. So far, the Henry and the High Power are leading the poll. However, actual High Powers and the Henry I want are vaporware here. I can find .22 target guns, but not the one's I'm interested in. I can find Ruger Gp100s but they want almost as much as a Smith. So, I have been looking and in looking I have come across 4 guns I wanted that weren't on the poll. So, I'll keep looking.
The guns:
1. Used Ruger LCP.
2. S&W M&P 22 Compact. with manual safety
3. S&W M&P9c 3.6" with manual safety.
4. Used HK VP9.
Been neglecting the auto side of my collection. Thought I'd fill in some holes. But there are so many holes.

The first three on your final list do not interest me. Yuk! The H&K might be mildly interesting if I looked up which one it is. I used to know. If you blow your wad on guns that you were not interested in then the next one you trip over will be one you wanted and at a great price but your wallet will be empty. Guess how I know.

I know it's not real popular these days but I generally shoot single action. Bought an LCR and literally sprained my thumb cocking it one handed. I know the action would have loosened up over time but there was just no love between me and that little revolver so I sold it. Just sayin...

Well, in true obstinate fashion, I wound up buying the gun with the least votes. Picked up a 6" Ruger Security Six in blue today for $450. I appreciate everyone who participated. Oh and here's a couple pics of the gun.
