I am surprised the 19x is not that popular because it has less muzzle flip than the 17 believe it or not and the standard 19 but to each his own

the overwatch precision flat trigger bites my finger so bad, I can't shoot more than 400 rounds in one sitting. The one thing I do lvove about my MP 2.0 the trigger is thin and does not bite my finger like the flat overwatch trigger

So did I, but only when they came on clearance at $200 and I made sure to get one of the post-redesign models. Mine works just fine.

You can still sell it privately as long as you meet at an ffl and do the transfer. I wouldn’t recommend selling to a shop. They’re gonna screw you over. I trade in a shop might get you more for the gun since you’re buying another.

THE ISSUE is if you purchased the firearm from licensed dealer with FFL, “You Are the purchaser/ owner of said firearm”. By chance whoever you sell to just sells it to “ anybody” and firearm is used in crime, recovered and traced, who’s on the hook? You are as Last recorded buyer. I do not make photo copy of any document I ask to see. I explain situation to buyer, if they don’t want to provide the documents, no big deal, someone else will. I usually only sell at gun shows where I also have Lots of witnesses that I know.

Come on people, you are making the act of selling a gun a hell of a lot more complicated than it is. Have an FFL do the transfer and it's done. Asking for stupid things like car insurance paperwork, come on. If you are doing a face to face sale the FFL does the NICS check and if the buyer passes then you are done with the process. If you are shipping it then the FFL sends it on to the buyers FFL and you are done with the process. The idea that if you are the original owner you then become linked to the gun forever and are somehow responsible for anything its ever used for later is also ridiculous. I live in NY, so I have to jump through more hoops than just about anyone, but I have sold multiple handguns online and in person. Once the FFL accepts the gun and begins the transfer to either an individual or another FFL my responsibility ends for that gun. It gets taken off my permit and that's the end of the story. It can be used to hold up a bank the next week and it doesn't mean a damn thing for me. Misinformation and paranoia aren't helping anyone who's new to the process...

Selling a firearm is really no different than selling a vehicle which the new owner might drive recklessly, while intoxicated, or use in the commission of a crime.

Sell it according to the applicable law and be done with it.

When I sell a firearm at a gun show I insist on seeing a valid Florida Driver's License and a concealed firearms and weapons permit, neither of which I want to copy.

After seeing those 2 credentials I'm reasonably certain that a) the buyer is a Florida resident of the required age, and b) that he isn't a prohibited person.

I have no problem selling FTF with someone I don't know as long as they have a DL and CCW with the same address on them...otherwise pay the dealer fee to run it through the books...reason is simple.

If someone has a CCW the first thing LE does when someone goes under a Domestic Violence Order is pull their CCW and collect all their guns and ammo. If someone under a DV decides to kill their spouse and buys your gun without you bothering to check and kills someone guess who is going to see a BIG civil suit...

If one lives in a Constitutional Carry state where a CCW isn't needed...go though a dealer... The Buyer doesn't want to do that...let him find another gun...

I am not hating on Cabela's, for them "it's just business" and they always have to win in deals like these. I like shopping at Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops.

I traded my first gun, a Taurus 856 in to pay for part of my dream gun, my Smith & Wesson 686-1. Did it suck to lose 100$ on the 300$ I paid for my Taurus? Absolutely… but it made the pain of the 900$ I spent on my dream gun hurt a little bit less and I haven’t regretted it one bit. So my 900$ dream gun was now a much more manageable 700$. Not great, but better than keeping a gun I couldn’t stand shooting in that snappy little .38.

I am not the last recorded buyer of the gun when I transfer it through an FFl which is why I don’t sell a gun without an FFL. I’ve sold over 100 guns on gunbroker and on forums like this one over the years. They email or send me a copy of the FFl it’s going to. I make a copy of that and the postal money order they use to pay, which had the buyers name and address on it. Take it to my FFl and he ships it out. So whatever the buyer does with the gun is irrelevant to me. In the unlikely event I am ever contacted by the ATF, I show them the paperwork and I’m out of it. Witnesses at gun shows aren’t anything that would hold up in a civil court, even if criminally you would be ok. The guy who sold one of the guns used by the Colombine shooters was sued into oblivion for the private sale he did with the 18 year old friend of the shooters. I don’t need the headache and I like the peace of mind that I went the extra mile.

I was in a PA gun shop a few weeks back and a guy came in with a young woman. He wanted to transfer his pistol to the young woman (his daughter). Owner said it wasn’t necessary since it’s family but the guy was adamant. He said “It’s her gun now and I want her name on it”. I plan to do the same thing when my kids get old enough, and that includes when I gift my son his .22 when he’s old enough.

What you have is referred to "sunk cost". You have already spent everything you are ever gonna spend on the gun. Money's gone. Unless it is costing you money to keep it, just as soon let it lie around and gather dust until you can do someting with it that is satisfactory. Who knows.....maybe sometrhing cataclysmic might happen and the prices for Glocks might skyrocket...or not.
I have a bunch of stuff like that lying around the house, some that I probably don't even remember I have. One day someone will wish they had a Glock and there you are!!!

I believe i would put a carbine chassis and a red dot on it and throw it behind the seat of my truck.

I wouldn't be selling any pistols these days if I were you.

I have an HK P-30 I don't really care for but I'm not going to take a 30% hit to sell it. It's worth more to me or maybe a relative that needs a pistol. This state has made it almost impossible to sell a pistol or semi-auto rifle. Transfer and shipping would cost $100. That's over and above the selling price.

well, part of me is saying OK I lose 30% I can put the rest on another gun I know I will like. Part of me rather lose that much then keep a gun I clearly do not like

Glad to hear it…and I still believe you aren’t viewing Glocks through the right perspective. They aren’t Sig P228’s or high end 1911’s, nor were they meant to be. They are low cost, simple, reliable, nearly indestructible duty guns for military and police. It’s a Jeep, not a BMW…Beat it up, abuse it…it will still work for you.

well for CCW and going out to the store I guess it's ok for a belly gun and it's fine for distances up to 21ft but my church gun I carry to protect us from active shooters i carry my Sig X5 legion which is incredibly fast and accurate.

I don't think the mechanical accuracy of the gun is at fault. Perhaps the ability of the shooter to shoot it accurately.

You can't buy ability, as I've heard it said. That said, sometimes you just don't get along with a gun.

Consignment ? On new gun will be a big loss. Start will FFL’s dealer price on said gun. The bigger the dealer, the less he is paying. Now establish the price, It’s used. Then factor in the FFL’s percentage. Where does this leave you. You also loose tax on original purchase and the expense of any extras you bought for gun.
I have a friend that gives his mistakes to his boys. That way he can act like he planned it that way. When you look at what you will loose, you might as well just keep it.

I had bought a new Lipsey Ruger GP100 in 44 Special about 3 years ago for $520. It was a bit heavier and the grip was also larger than my Lipsey 4 1/4" Ruger BH new model in 44 Special. And it had a green fiber optic front sight. I just never liked it. I had it one gun show just before the China Virus hit in 2020. No offers on it; so it boxed it back up and took it home. Never shot it after that. It stayed in the box until last week. I was helping out at a table at a local gun show. Another dealer bought it for $600 before the show opened; so it was a bit more than I'd paid for it. Mostly I just did not like the size, the feel, and I especially did not like the fiber optic front sight. I reckon it would be just fine if I was 18 years old and into something like a three gun competition and running and dodging and doing general gymnastics, and maybe shooting a little bit. I did not make much profit, but all in all it worked out; since I got to try it out at my leisure.

There is no requirement to track where you bought something or to who you sold something. If those requirements exist in your state, perhaps it is time to move.

Well, OK I did the unthinkable today! Went to Cabalas and sold them my CZ Shadow 2 SA for $530, my MP Shield 1.0 for $150, and $235 for my Sig P365. The gun sales people thought I was nuts trading in my CZ for a new MP 2.0 Compact Optics ready but you know, I could not shoot the CZ even if my life depended on it. I don't know if it was the fact the trigger was so light and crisp, maybe I thought I was pressing trigger when I was slapping it, I don't know but did not shoot very well with it. The P365 was fine but not a fan of micro pistols in general. The Shield 1.0 I really like that but I just got the Shield Plus so didn't need the old school modek

anyway I will try not to lose too much sleep but I really hated the CZ and it was annoying that I got a 1200 paper weight. I really love the MP Compact 2.0 and with a red dot will be even better and more useful than a range toy that I cannot master.

Ha! You are right but had the CZ for a year and a half the 19x I just bought and it's too new to depart with. I keep telling myself I have to be able to hit good shots at 50ft when I should focus more on 21ft rule or less. Most encounters are 7ft and less.

For self defense distances the 19X with high cap mags will suit me fine but I am always thinking what if I am at a place where an active shooter shows up and I am the only guy to defend us, the 19x would be the wrong tool. My Sig P320 X5 legion with romeo 1 pro I can hit from downtown.

You sold a P365 for $235 ? I could sell that gun for $450 all day long around here . Face to face with a BOS to boot .

In all the years I have been buying, and selling guns which has been about 20 years probably 98% have been private sales, as I don't buy much new. I have yet to have an issue. I have twice refused to sell to individuals one was a 18 year old wanting to buy a pistol from me the other because he was acting strange. Yes bill of sale is required with proper ID I record the name, address, and license number. If they don't want to it's a no sale. Really for me that probably is overkill since I buy private sale used anyway.

I have read your previous thread here about the Glock 19x and how you complained about it performing poorly at spitting distance, Glock 19x meh. Sorry, but you blamed the gun for operator error.

Remember the old adage "It is not the bow, it is the Indian". I shot a Shadow System MR920 Elite with an RMR2 this morning and have sighted it in. Despite having changed the trigger connector, the trigger characteristics are far from a SIG P210, or a Sphinx AT2000S but I could still keep the rounds inside four inches at 25 yards.

yep they sure did....uggg! But I really hated the CZ Shadow 2. I still can't figure out how a perfect trigger, very tight lockup, and I can't shoot the thing worth a damn. My x5 legion has a lot of creep but I shoot that very well and get super tight groups. The 19x I plan on keeping it around for at least a year before I get rid of it.

Cabalas told me they plan on selling my CZ for $890. Even if I put it on consignment, I would probably have to wait weeks until someone buys it. also, the only used pistols that are moving are glocks and sigs from what I been told.

The glock has a rolling break and it's very distracting. Maybe I should have left trigger stock as it seems the curved trigger had more leverage to press .The overwatch precision feels good but in spite of it being 4.5lbs to 5lb trigger pull, it actually feels a lot heavier than that. I plan on keeping the 19x and to give it more time. I do think it is a good carry gun for just going to the convenience store and back. For self defense distances I am sure it will be good.

It's no different than buying a car. No matter how good a deal you have negotiated or think you are getting, you can be sure that you still lose.

Uggg....Someone gladly paid the $890 asking price when I only got $530. I totally got my butt reemed but to me it was worth more selling my gun to a cabalas than a private buyer. I know there is nothing wrong with private sales but I didn't want to take any chances .

I don't see any reason why you couldn't just take a loss of $100 (if that as Glocks seem to hold value too) and move on. Don't let it take up too much space upstairs.

It sounds like this may be somewhat a trend if I am understanding your posts while quickly scanning...my recommendation if you are chasing the 'one' would be to quit buying in the $500-$850 price point, get something in the $2K price point or so and have a higher-end gun (as it sounds like this is what you really want and you won't continue to keep taking losses).
