Default Taurus M992 22LR/22 mag

Hello everyone,

I picked up a stainless Taurus M992 Tracker 9 shot 22 LR/22 mag 6.5 inch barrel, oh about 5-6 years ago. Itís accounted for countless rock chucks and other small game, all with the 22 WMR cylinder. It has about the most user friendly interchangeable cylinder system Iíve encountered. Iíve only fired 22 WMR out of it, approximately 500 rounds so far with zero issues. It is quite accurate and reliable.

I have to say, I rather like this Taurus revolver. I presently own S&W, Ruger, Coltís and this one Taurus, and hands down it is the most used out of all my revolvers, probably due to living in the country with acreage. Iíve found it to be a most excellent revolver for my purposes: plinking, pest control and small game.

While, perhaps this may sound snobbish, I simply donít have the same pride of ownership with this Taurus that I have with my other S&W, Coltís, and Ruger revolvers, yet I grudgingly have come to admire and respect this revolver over time. Itís never failed me and itís deadly accurate.

I donít really desire another Taurus but I will certainly hang onto this one, I feel itís earned a place in my battery of revolvers. From reading other posts about other forum members experiences with Taurus revolvers, I must be quite lucky, because most are negative experiences with quality issues it seems like. Am I just lucky or maybe I havenít shot it enough?

Taurus seems to have gotten its act together just like Ford got past the Pinto and Chevy got past the Vega. I have owned a few offerings from Taurus and presently own a PT 1911. All delivered as advertised.

My only Taurus, so far, is a Model 96 I bought in the early 1990's. It looks like a S&W K-22, but the finish is not quite up to the standards of the K-22 nor is the trigger action. Given that the Taurus uses a coil main spring, it will never quite equal the trigger of the S&W. I bought it because its price tag as a new firearm was less than that of a used K-22. It is a good 22 LR revolver and I am happy with it.

As others have said my Taurus is a zero issue handgun. I have a M-85 .38spl and it performs as i would expect any thirty eight to perform, zero issues. If that changes then i'll be the first to let you know providing I survive the situation. I wonder if others who find issue with the Taurus handguns have had their world coloured by early production models. I'll bet Colt and S&W first models (first off the production line) also had issues with QA and false starts. Nothing is perfect until we find the faults and correct them.
