Pistol storage within the safe
So I have a few 1911's, several revolvers and a bunch of long guns but my current method of storing the pistols in my safe leaves a bit to be desired. I use a soft case for each pistol and wrap some of them in a rag with oil on it or a gun sock type sleeve. My problem is I am running out of space. It may just be an organizational issue. Was looking for ideas on how others fit their collection into their safe.

These racks are available at most big gun shops.
The under-shelf racks are a nice supplement.

I use soft cases and stack them like cordwood. I keep the rifles in two safes and built shelves in the others.

I use these as well for storage. They work well. For my more collectible pistols I put socks on them as well for further protection.

I like the HYSKORE Modular Pistol Rack. Cheap and effective storage.

I’ve got a couple of these. Made by a local Tampa boy. Beautiful workmanship.

The inside of the safe door itself is often used for pistol storage, either with a rack system, holsters, or pouches.

I use the hanging rods like squidsix has underneath his shelf. Easy to use, cheap, and they'll hold heavy revolvers without a problem. If your handguns have long barrels, they will poke out further to the rear and sometimes the safe door won't close, if it's a smaller safe. I have to store two of my revolvers in their presentation boxes, which I'd rather not do, but I have them wrapped in silicone cloths inside the case, and I frequently wipe all my guns down to keep them coated. I also have dehumidification to keep the moisture down.
I also have nylon holsters made for storage attached to the inside of the door, along with magazine pouches. Mine is a relatively small safe, but I have 10 revolvers, 7 semiautos, 6 rifles and 5 shotguns in it; If I buy one more gun, I'll need a bigger safe.

I use under the shelve hangers from Gun Storage Solutions.
I also add hang tags to ID the gun. I put a sticker with a number on the hang tag and a matching one on the box, storage elsewhere.

I use the silicone socks on my collectible ones as well. When things start to get tight it protects them from getting bumped or scratched. Plus the silicone socks help prevent rust...or so they say.

Interesting all the different methods....
I use canvas zippered pistol rugs. The insides are sprayed heavily with spray silicone and allowed to dry.
All handguns go in those and lined up like library books, with hang-tag ID-ing it.
At least two (2) rechargeable silica containers per safe.
Surrounded by saltwater and never had a single issue.

I stored revolvers on the door of my safe for years with no issues, then one day my wife goes in there looking for some paperwork and knocks my 610 down. Thank God it landed on her foot, otherwise it would have hit the concrete floor! She was pretty pissed, so I was trying to be sympathetic towards her as I examined my baby. She was ranting about who would hang guns on the door, blah blah blah. And I said, you’re absolutely right dear, I’ve been looking at these racks and I think I need to get one...now two.

I think a lot of us have anguished over the storage dilemma.
But for me decades ago, the solution was obvious.
A collection/accumulation that is going to continue to expand....

Just go get another safe.

My narrow autos are under a shelf on long square ‘S’ hooks, far revolvers are on my door on a wire rack. Excess handguns live in socks or rugs on the shelves.

I use the door panel organizer on my Liberty safe. If I run out of space I store them on the top shelf in soft cases.

I have 5 safes. It's amazing how fast the last and biggest safe I bought is filling up.

Storage
I have 2 Craftsman 6 drawer tool storage boxes suspended from a track at the top of my safe on rollers. This allows for guns to stack behind the rolling boxes, as well as under. Each drawer can hold 2, 6" K frames or 4, 2" J frames. Drawers are not deep enough for longer barrels. 2 autos will also fit in each. Longer barrels fit under or behind the drawer system. Rolling allows access to items in the back. The system allows for storage of minimum 24 guns in a space otherwise not useable.

I had the same problem accumulating more pistols with no place left for them in the safe. Took them out of their boxes and hung them the shelf with the "s" shaped under shelf hangers pictured. Another nice feature of these is the thick rubber-like plastic coating on the hanger which protects the muzzle and bore from getting scratched. They are surprisingly strong and easily support my full size 1911s without bending. Highly recommended and available at very reasonable prices on line or local tractor supply, but shop around as the prices vary widely for the same item.
There are also similarly coated small stands, which I use to keep my revolvers on the top of the shelf suspending the pistols. Also added an inexpensive rechargeable LED bar light with multi position switch (on, off, motion detector) set to come on when
i open the safe. A piece of velcro affixed to its back sticks it right to the safe liner above the door. Perfect!
While these doodads do their jobs seamlessly, well, and at very reasonable up front cost, just bear in mind that nature abhors a vacuum and you (possibly like me) will soon find yourself with the urge to fill that newly found safe space. First world problems...

Hello,
You can’t have too many guns, but it’s tough to store them all.
For handguns I prefer Armory Racks. Each rack is a tray that holds up to 8 pistols. The racks can be pulled out and easily carried from place to place. Several racks fit on each shelf.

I have a very small safe that besides my 6 revolvers also contain other items. Each revolver is in a Beretta VCI Gun sock and just stacked on top of each other.

I also keep a eva-dry E-333 Renewable Small Dehumidifier in the safe.

Another vote for Gun Storage Solutions hangerslike post 2. I personally don’t like the Hyskor because they took up too much space and were flimsy.
