Handled the pistol side by side with the M&P bodyguard 380 and was impressed. Almost identical in size-and the extra girth in the grip made all the difference in the world regarding grip comfort. Perfect pocket pistol. Didn't buy it (at $379.00) for the reasons I listed in the other thread but I gotta tell ya, if it was packaged with 2 magazines instead of one it would have been hard to put down. The M&P 380 was priced at $399.00 with 2 magazines so the Ruger even with one mag was at a pretty good price point considering today's prices ( I only paid around $260 for my M&P bodyguard when I bought it way back when so the $400 price point does offend me a bit).

My neighbor has been wanting a small easily concealable .380 that he can carry and that his wife might be able to employ if need be. I’ve tried explaining the challenges around increased prices across the board not to mention the lack of ammo. He didn’t fully believe me until we went shopping! He was tempted by the Ruger as well but i think he has decided on the S&W EZ 380 instead.

Picked up an LCP Max about six weeks ago and have pocket carried since. Like it a lot for the above stated reasons. They come with a usable pocket holster.

I dont pocket carry, and I don't think it would conceal better than my 365 on the belt enough to matter, but I still kind of want one and would be all over one in .32ACP

I recently picked up an LCP Max and sold the BG380 that I purchased probably a month prior. Sold it to a friend that wanted a pocket pistol to supplement his M&P Compact. There are things that I like about both pistols. I wish that S&W would make a “Bodyguard Max 380”. The thing that I miss most is the lack of the double strike capability in the LCP Max.

If .380 ammo is a problem, get a reliable pocket gun in .22 LR.
Ammo is cheaper and easier to find.

You are the second person to mention the lack of second strike capability in the LCP Max. When did pulling the trigger again on a semiautomatic become a thing that people do? While I have a pistol that was marketed with second strike capability, a Sig P290RS, I don't know of any instructors that recommend to pull the trigger a second time. If it doesn't go bang, rack the slide and get a new round in there.

I like the option. As a reloaded I’ve had a couple of light strikes over the years. Second strike fired the round. In a real defensive shooting when your yanking on a trigger I doubt you’d even notice it didn’t go off.

So far my Ruger LCP Max had been a perfect performer.

I can't say if I would notice immediately that the gun went click in a defensive shooting or not and hope to never find out, but I assume that I would be more likely to do under stress what I trained to do at the range.

I only have 2 pistols that have restrike capability and those are rarely carried. The pistols that I carry the most, other than the LCP Max, are striker fired so I don't see second strike capability as a great benefit.

I had an LCP and loved it then got an LCP II. The LCP II had better sights, trigger, and lower recoil and shot great....BUT it was a little bigger and thicker and the trigger was so short and light I wasn't comfortable carrying it in a pocket with a chambered round. I sold it recently for a big profit and bought another plain ole" LCP .380 brand new on the net for $214 including shipping. Probably one of the best values in the firearms industry right now. If I want something bigger I go with my Sig 365.

X2...went the same route, EDC now either an LCP gen 2, much preferring the longer stroke for pocket carry, or a 365 w/MS OWB.
I'll pick up an LCP Max if they ever come out with a MS model, not being a fan of the short throw dual blade trigger.

Friend bought one just after they came out. I shot it a couple of months ago and it was a good shooter...that said it was not as accurate for me as the Kahr P380 that I've been shooting for about the last five years. Just like the DAO trigger pull over the striker fired. Only half the rounds in the magazine but this isn't usually my primary anyway.
