Could not pass up this miserable thing VERY Pitted could not save the slide or barrel I had spares . Lots of time hand sanding to remove rust then light buffing with Mothers . Off to a friend to blue ,while away made some bone grips and added some color to see what it would on the bone what do you think

The pistol is very nice! Good work! The green shag carpeting, however, is nauseating.

Beautiful gun. I admit to not being wild about the grips.

I expected something different when I saw 1903, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is nice when a good firearm finds a good home.

What type bone? The figuring in it is very pleasant, and the staining looks great.

Looks good. Did you tint the picture with a yellow filter, or are my eyes deceiving me? Also, is there something going on with the left grip at about 1:00 to the grip screw? A natural flaw?

Carving out the grips while to gun was being blued is amazing because the fit is perfect. Good job.

Novak did the sights. They amaze me at every turn:
A human being answers the phone, another human being calls you when the work is done, or if they have any questions. Their prices are excellent, and they have your project back to you with lightning speed.

This one is a gold bead .193” front sight and standard black rear

Although this is ugly, I think it solves one problem.
The factory thumb safety is a tiny flat nub. Its nearly impossible to manipulate, for me.
I welded a small blob onto it and hit it quick with a file. If it passes muster in live fire, I will make it as pretty as I can, and report back.

Nice save. Grips are KILLER !!!

Who made those? And what did you stain them with?

Thanks for sharing it.

I'm not a big fan of bone grips, but I like those.

I once had a 1903, blue with wooden medallion grips. For some reason, I traded it off for something else that I can't even remember.
