I would like some help from those forum members who might be familiar with California knife laws.
My daughter and several of her friends are taking a spring break trip and driving up the coast of California into Oregon. They are going to start in San Diego. She has asked me to send her a good folding knife for the trip. I have several, but need to know some laws on what she can carry, openly or concealed, blade length, are assisted opening knives okay, and any information that I may need. Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that fixed blade must be carries open in a sheath aattatched to the belt.
Automatic knives are a definate no-no.

Folders can be carried open or concealed, but must be carried in the folded position, unless they are carried openly in a belt sheath, like a fixed blade.

I believe that the legnth restrictions no longer apply.

I am not a lawyer. This info is worth exactlly what you paid for it.
