A L E Jurras Custom 200 "International" Auto Mag. These pistols featured an 8 1/2" barrel with a 3/4 rib and are chambered for the 357 Auto Mag cartridge. They are all stainless steel and fully polished. They were available with the pictured removable brace/stock if desired. There were about 10 of them made in the mid 70's and the Gun-Ho case with the "Tiger Stripe" liner certainly dates it. The scope mount is a prototype designed by Kent Lomont and is a one of a kind.

For me, it would probably be my 870 and my BHP with Spegal grips.

Default Original Sharps 1874 Business Rifle

Easy for me. My original 1874 Sharps Business Rifle, shipped to Carlos Gove & Son in Denver Colo on February 5th. 1880. The whole rifle is in amazing shape, including the mirror bright bore. This is an "Assembled" rifle, made when Sharps was desperately trying to save themselves from bankruptcy. This one has an 1863 percussion receiver, with the thick lockplate to fit it. It has a Civil war era rifle, not carbine, buttstock with the patchbox, and filled bottom sling swivel cut. The forearm has a dovetailed in repair on the left side, and was probably checkered to hide it, with the wrist checkered to match. And finally, the barrel is marked "Business 40", but must have been out of spec, and rebored. It is remarked 45 2 1/10", or 45-70, and the letter states it left Sharps as a 45 caliber. This rifle was among the last produced before they went under, and I'd attribute it's condition to the fact that the buffalo were gone. It did't spend it's days banging around in a hide hunter's wagon.

These are not real "guns" to adults. To me they were very "cool" when I received them from my parents in 1958. I had just had open heart surgery and was not allowed to go out to play. These are Hubley Colt .45's, the cylinders turned when you pulled the trigger. In the cylinder were lead bullets with brass casings, the casing came off and you could put "Greenie Stick-Um caps on the base of the lead bullet, when you pulled the trigger you got a bang (of course) and smoke came out of the barrel. The loading lever allowed you to rotate the barrel and remove the cylinder. To a 7 year old these were the neatest things in the world. I have thought enough of them that I still have them 63 years later. Probably in the over all scheme of things all the firearms will be gone before these.

My coolest gun is probably my Walther P4. Basically a modernized P38-type pistol with a shorter barrel and a decocker instead of a manual safety. Issued in limited numbers by West German police forces as a stopgap to the Walther P5, Sig P6, and HK P7.

Default Dan Wesson full 44VH Kit

Hey Folks,

My favorite gun is my Dan Wesson 44VH. I looked for years for a full 44VH kit. And finally found one at a gun show. With the ability to swap barrels while at the range is so fun.

Has 4", 6", 8", and 10" Barrels with heavy outer sleeves.

I can shoot a 4" barrel for a while. Then do some long range handgun shooting. By changing to an 8" or 10" barrel in under 10 minutes including sighting in the new barrel.

It is heavy enough to tame max power .44 mags and one of my most accurate handguns.

She sure is my coolest

I have been on this forum for years but this is my first try at posting a picture.

It does not look like the thumbnail gets to the picture. This is the address of the picture.

I gotta give it to this Remington Rand 1911A1.

Not a lick of finish left, and it still has the rack number from its last day on active duty.

I don't know what its been up to since 1944, but I can imagine.

My coolest to me is my Ruger Mk IV 22/45 Lite with Banish 223 suppressor and Sig red dot sight. Every time I take it out of the case I either say or think: "The name is Bond, James Bond"

Not as cool as the others shown

My coolest one is a Pre-17 K-22 masterpiece, that was shipped to my home state of Ohio 4 days before I was born in Aug, 1952.

Since it didn't come with the original numbered grips I got these fiddleback Claro ones from John Culina.

While it was not mine per see I used an HK MP5 9MM when I was assigned to the USMC Security Force Battalion in the late 1980's. Besides being fully auto it was silenced

Hmmm. Long guns it's a tie between my Winchester 71 Deluxe rifle, my Dixie/Pedersoli Sharps replica in . 40-65, or either of my 6.5mm Remington Magnums - a 660 carbine and a 24" 700. Handguns either my 6" pre 27 with diamond targets or my custom Ruger flattop . 44, shortened to 4 5/8" with Turnbull C/C'd cylinder frame and blued steel grip frame.

Pretty sure the top one in your post is actually a HK SP5 the semi auto version.

Can't think of a reason in the world anyone would put a pistol brace on a true select fire MP5.

This little extra roll pin is what makes your rifle CooL in quantities of GREAT multitudes. I think there's a company that makes lowers with a fake pin, just for the cool factor.

I've got a little 1965 S&W plinking pistol that's scratched up on the slide with a message about how it was some kind of prize gun for the winner of some little plinking contest in Ohio, called Center Fire Pistol Championship.
Who ever heard of Camp Perry, anyway?
Apparently, there were some pretty decent military and civilian shooters there casually plinking at paper targets.
Like anyone takes shooting paper seriously.
Some Army guy won. Big deal. He was just a competitive shooter and sniper instructor. They make it sound like he was a good shot or something.
Shot paper with a handgun. Meh.
Olympic shooter. Who cares?
Sniper instructor. So what?
I shot a bb gun once and managed to shoot both my eyes out.
You don't see me getting awarded some cheap plinking pistol.
Model 52-1? Sheesh, why not an RG .22 short?

In all seriousness. Sgt Bonnie Harmon was an amazing shooter. I have nothing but respect and admiration for him.
Veteran Camp Perry competitor. Winner of the 1965 Center Fire Pistol Championship. Sniper instructor. Olympic shooter.
And, I have his prize pistol from his 1965 Camp Perry win.
I feel honored every time I look at it.

Bonnie Harmon Obituary (2006) - COLUMBUS, GA - Columbus Ledger-Enquirer

Nothing exotic. For me, the coolest gun I own is a little Ruger .22 Long Rifle Standard Automatic. Plain simple little pistol w/ the red eagle grips and that early nine round magazine produced about 1950 ... just a happy little blunder that I almost didn't make! The blunder ... wandering into a gunshot one afternoon. Almost didn't go. So glad I did. Little pistol is certainly above 95%. Got it for slightly more than the Mk. II's in the case, none of which were as nice looking.

If it isn't breaking the rules ... my favorite rifle ... which for me is way high in the cool factor ... a Krag 1902 Infantry Rifle. Extremely high level of original blue ... just some loss on the left side of the receiver. Bought it from one of our fellow forum members in sporterized condition. Spent time looking and finding the various parts needed and restored it to issue condition. Turned out extremely well. Found a correct buttstock on Ebay ... thank God for Ebay! A very gracious member of the Culver Shooting Page contacted me with the correct hand guard, which I found about impossible to find anywhere including Ebay. Upper bands ... started to just buy one and finish the rifle. Most I found were pretty rubbed up. Then ... on Ebay ... found a very nice upper band w/ screw, swivel and excellent original finish for a good price. Now have a representative bayonet but am looking for a 1902 dated bayonet for the rifle. Now have brass, dies, bullets and even primers so once the weather warms a bit, I hope to take this old rifle out to the range and have some fun with it. Sincerely. bruce.

Cool seeing this thread make a comeback.

Fortunately, I have something to show off that I didn't have back in 2021. Infact, I just got it a few months ago...

-m-p15x-jpg

It's a Police Trade-in M&P15X, Smith & Wesson's ill-fated attempt at offering a top-shelf M4gery and take the high-end AR market by storm. At it's core it's a straight up clone of the Colt 6920, (aka the M4 Carbine in the full-auto military configuration) with a carbine-length gas system, 14" chrome-lined M4 profile barrel, cold hammer forged Aluminum frame, and magnetic particle tested bolt carrier group. Outfitted with Troy collapsible rear adjustable sight and quad rail handguard. The MSRP was $1379, but being a Police trade-in, only cost me $556 with a bit of haggling.

Perhaps the most interesting part about this rifle is where it might have come from, as I did some digging and I could only find a total of two organizations that ever adopted the M&P15X... One was the Navada Department of Public Safety and the other was possibly — get this — The National Aeronautics and Space Association! Yeah, apparently NASA was considering adoption of the M&P15X for the security force at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock Mississippi. However, I could find no confirmation of whether or not they actually adopted it, so of the two of them, it most likely came from the NDPS, but an interesting bit of trivia nonetheless.

In post 165 of this thread, I said my all time dream gun was a HK MP5.

I had to settle for the semi auto HK SP5 April of last year. Liked it so much I bought it's little brother 2 months later.

Default 325PD Shorty 45

I dig on my shorty 325PD. Funny light with nice smooth wood grips and still super fun to shoot the 45's. Cool cool cool!

I'm not sure on "coolest" but there's definitely some kind of cool factor -

Compared to what some of you guys posted, I don't have any REALLY cool guns.

But this one is pretty cool to me - and it has garnered me lots of "likes" when I posted it in the past. It is one of the few I have seriously considered ordering a letter for.

It is a 10-6 38 special frame that was over-stamped 13-1 at the factory - for S&W to build an early K-frame 357 magnum.

The last 3 photos are:
1) the unedited crane stamps
2) the highlighted 10-6 original stamping
3) the highlighted 13-1 factory over-stamping

This revolver has a D770xxx serial number - which indicates it was built sometime in early 1975. According to the SCSW 3rd edition, 1975 serial numbers started at D7500001 and ended with D870000 - and that serial number series was used for the models 10, 12, 13, 14, & 45 produced that year.

Based on that, I believe this one must have been built shortly after the model was first introduced at the request of the NYSP in 1974. So, as far as I can tell, it must be an early production example of the first K-frame 357 magnum revolvers. If I am wrong I hope someone will correct me.

At this point, I don't know if it was one of the revolvers that shipped to the NYSP, but even if it isn't, it still appears to be one of the first 20,000 K-Frame 357 magnum revolvers that S&W ever produced.

That makes it pretty cool to me.

Here's my latest "coolest" gun. It's probably the cheapest, and least expensive gun I've ever owned. Certainly the lowest powered.

A Galesi (no model name I can find) in 22 Short. Tiny little 6+1 semi, made in Italy in 1965, so before the GCA-68 basically banned their importation. I was told when I bought it that it was a 22 Long only, but I've never seen any 22 Long ammo that I remember, so I tried it with shorts and it works. So now it's a 22 Short only. It is not a "Saturday Night Special." It's an all steel, well made little gun.

Blue steel, with white plastic grips, European type heel mag release, and a safety. That's about it. Mag holds six rounds and will hurt your fingers loading it if you're not careful. It's not the most reliable gun I've ever owned, but it functions most of the time with Remington Golden Bullet shorts.

What makes it really cool (IMHO) is that it came with a well worn holster. Someone must have carried this little thing. I have a mental image of an old man, leaving his shop at night, going by the bank to make his night drop, with this on his side. I'll bet his family never knew he owned a gun, and found it in his stuff when they cleaned up for the last time. From there it ended up at my LGS where my wife saw it and thought it was "cute."

The finish is worn, the holster is too, and shows evidence of having been repaired. It was clean, but dry, a few drops of oil was all it took to get it back in the game.

I've shot it a few times. At three feet it will make a group you can cover with a quarter. A real "get off me" gun. It will probably be the last gun I ever get rid of.

Walther P5. It has many unique and quirky features. An engineering masterpiece that couldn't be made today.

The obvious choice among my small collection would be the older model Colt Agent. The grips, holster, and the Case lever-lock came from my grandfather-in-law. Unfortunately he had sold off the gun decades before we met. But I went out and found one when he gave my wife all the stuff he had for it. I added the T-Grip.

I feel like Paul Drake when I'm carrying it, which isn't very often.

My recently acquired S&W Registered Magnum 357, registration #4386, shipped 1939. Meticulously restored by Cylinder & Slide with Keith Brown Roper walnut grips. A grail gun I’d never thought I’d get that now is my coolest and most coveted gun I own.

I bought my first Detonics about 1978. I think I paid $125.00 for it.

IMG_0410.jpg

I found a slightly smaller pistol made off a Caspian frame.

IMG_0566.jpg

The frame is all stell. Would be great if someone came out with a "Detonics helight" grip alloy frame.
