Buck 110 Auto w/ Custom Sheath
Sometime in the past few years Buck started to produce an auto version of their venerable 110. From what I've read, previously 110 autos could be had from aftermarket custom makers. I guess Buck wised up and released it:
As most know, the original/classic 110 is not only a big pocketknife, it is also heavy. I wanted a belt sheath for it, but preferred horizontal carry to the vertical carry sheath that came with it. I found a guy on Etsy who made the sheath I was looking for:
The guy who made it lives somewhere in Russia, in a remote area, I think. The sheath took about three months to arrive, largely, I think, due to slow mail along the way. I was worried about the delay, but when I enquired he told me the delay was typical. The sheath is boned, as you can see, and quite tight. I think it'll loosen up in a year or two.
I'm pleased with both the knife and its sheath. Don't really have any use for it, but if I let that stop me my knife assortment would be meager indeed!

Knifes Out
Wow! Thank you for pictures and sharing. I’m more
intrigued with the Buck 110 Auto knife.
I never knew the 110 came in an “Auto”. I’m not
a Knife Guy but that Iconic Buck is cool!
Thanks again.

Sweet.
I love the Buck 110, here's my Custom engraved Buck 110 with S30V steel and Cherrywood grips that my brother got me as a Birthday present this year.
I'm hoping to receive a more modern Buck 110 Slim Pro for Christmas this year.

The 110 auto has been around for awhile but they can be hard to find. Originally they were retrofit but now they come straight from Buck.

Nice! Looks like yours has ebony scales. The sheath is pretty slick too. I bought one just after they came out, but the scales aren’t ebony. They’re either “diamond wood or walnut. I wanted one for my collection and was afraid they would discontinue it.
They now make an Elite version version with an S30V steel blade and G10 scales. They also offer the smaller 112 with options. I’m thinking a 112 Elite is in my future!

I love Buck 110's, I've had this one since 1980, original sheath was replaced years ago with a tan saddle leather sheath with lacing I got at a flea market:
Here's a couple more that were pawn shop finds in need of new blades or otherwise needed help. Sent them back to Buck for their "Spa Day" treatment, they will replace the blade if needed, buff out scratches on the blade and bolsters, make it look brand new for like $10:
The 110 Auto looks like something I'd love to own, but looks like my home state Virginia considers them naughty contraband.....

Ya just can't beat a Buck. My 110 is 40 years old, and except for normal wear, is as good as when new. I've thought about the 110 auto, but have passed because it has no pocket clip. I carry an auto daily, and have for years, so a pocket clip is a must.

I have really been thinking of the 112 Elite Auto. But it is just a tad big for an everyday pocket knife. Would auto opening even be desirable on a smaller folder? I just haven't decided yet...

Absolutely! Small autos are perfect for daily use and a fun toy. I had to buy a second Protech Calmigo, because the Mrs. confiscated my first!

Where can these 110 automatics be purchased and about what do they cost? I'd love to have one.

Mike, just google "Buck 110 Auto," and a number of sources will turn up. I think $179 is what they mostly go for. Another $20 or so on Buck's own site.

One of the best ever. Carried one for well over 20 years but now carry a Benchmade 470 because it's lighter and fits in my pocket.

I checked out both a Buck 112 Auto and a 112 Buck Auto Elite at the store since this thread started. Both great knives with the nod going to the Elite, but I found them to be just a bit big and heavy for everyday pocket carry. (Hopefully I'll get one for Christmas)!
I did buy a Bear Ops Incognito, a cool little automatic with a 2 1/2" blade and a textured aluminum handle. Made in Alabama. I like it.
My only experience with an automatic has been with a Bencmade that has a safety on it. With it on, it was a two hand opener, with it off it would open in my pocket. No bueno....... I don't think that will be an issue with the Bear Op or the Buck.
Thanks for pushing me over the edge s&wchad....... I think.

Love the 110, and have been thinking about one of the autos. I love the OP's as well as the sheath. Here's my favorite, a drop point model in S30V with my initials and cherry scales. I skinned and quartered a deer with it this morning.

I had a customized 110 with the same switch but a friend knife guy talked me out of it. It was very well done.

"The 110 Auto looks like something I'd love to own, but looks like my home state Virginia considers them naughty contraband...." from Canoeguy
That's kinda strange. We were over at VA Beach for a week or so in '19 and one of the shops along the main strip had a knife (I don't know what type it's called) that has a slide-type thing on it: you slide it forward and the blade comes straight out the end, slide it back and the blade springs right back in. Came with a sheath. I've never used it for anything but the thin, razor-sharp blade looks like it would give someone a bad day. IF the blade didn't break when being used. I'm not sure if this thing's legal in PA, but it's cool so I parted ways with $55 dollars to get it.

Autos do not have a lot of appeal for me, but the 110 auto is so cool, that I would own one anyway. I would never carry it, as the 110 is way too big for that, but as I said...

Sounds like an OTF (out the front) automatic. I see a lot of cheap Chinese OTFs at gun shows, usually $50 to $100, and the quality is pretty much what you'd expect. If you're interested in a good OTF, check out the offerings from Microtech or another quality manufacturer.

Yes, a VERY cheaply-made OTF automatic. But, I have a cool piece of junk that would break off before it broke much skin I imagine!

Mine lives in its original black sheath however I have not carried it for decades. I was once enamored by the 110 but did not like the bulk as an ECD knife. If it didn't have my initials engraved in the Brass Bolster (which I doubt anyone would want) I'd sell it.
