Collected US military knives for 40+ years, this modified knuckle knife would have quite a story if it could talk. These were mostly done by US Paratroopers in WWII. IIRC, picked up at flea market so no history.

The TL 28 is WW II USMC issue. A friend gave me this one. I have several that are marked U.S. that were issued to me and also several TL 29's that were issued to me.

The two sheath knives are USMC Ka-bars. The one on the left was given to me by my Staff. The one on the right was given to me by a friend who was a WW II & Korean War Marine Corps Veteran. He had carried it in both wars. He figured it needed to go to another Marine. When I cross the Rainbow Bridge it will go to my eldest Grandson, who also wore the Eagle, Globe & Anchor.

I think my coolest is my Benchmade Emissary 470 because of the S30V steel and the wonderful Axis lock. Williams and McHenry (Father in law and Son in law) invented the lock which I think is the best ever.

I don't know that this is a "cool" knife but I'm proud of it.

A friend of mine gave it to me as a gift. It was the first Benchmade I owned.

It's a McHenry & Williams 710. It was the first Axis Lock Benchmade ever made.

I like this pair of stag handled knives. A friend comes from California most years to camp with us and I loan him the Case knife so he doesn’t have to check any luggage. The Hoffritz came in a F.W. Byrd sheath, I remember looking at the displays at the Hoffritz store in Dadeland Mall when I was a kid.

Regards,

I have a tidy little collection of knives. Lock backs at left below.
2nd from left are some autos and semi-autos. But 3rd left is the
one I would call my coolest. I had the Solingen knife for a long
time, but it had a cracked handle. So, one day I took the cracked
handle off and made this one out of a pick handle. I remember
asking my Dad what he thought of it. He said it ain't much for looks,
but Hell for strong.

This is one of my “cooler” knives, a #4 Skinner by Hall of Fame knifemaker George Herron.

George Herron Knife - Scrimshaw Artist "SD" ???-img_2531-jpg

I’m also rather fond of this Henckel’s Twin Works chef knife. The blade is 14” of forged Solingen steel. Michael Myers, eat your heart out!

That's not a knife..THIS is a knife !!!!!-img_0352-jpg

Microtech Troodon. Out the front automatic. Makes knife regulators from coast-to-coast break out in hives before they go into apoplexy.

I always enjoy the Microtech warnings “Caution Sharp Edge.” It’s like the cowboy bar I use to frequent in my younger days with a sign above the urinals—“Don’t Eat The Big White Mints.”

The sign over the urinal at our range says: "if you can't hit the target,
keep it in the holster".

You guys are reminding me of decades past when I was a teenager and my father had taken one of those pool stickers which reads; "NO DIVING! SHALLOW WATER! YOU COULD BE PARALYZED!" and stuck it inside the lid of the bathroom Toilet.
It had me so hysterical the first time I saw it that I nearly peed all over myself.

Default My coolest knife belonged to my grandfather

It was his 1942 True Temper machete. It hung by his side all through the Pacific war. And my dad inscribed his initials on the sheath many many years ago.

ESEE PR4. Knives are one of those areas where I think functionality is cool, and this one is about as functional as it gets for my uses.

That is a cool knife. I used to try to find one of his knives at gun shows for a decent price, with no luck. I liked that he was from South Carolina, if I am not mistaken.

I can't even begin to decide which of my knives is the "coolest".

That's just a small sample. I don't collect knives but I do accumulate them, no doubt about it.

I have a lot of knives (like most of us!) including a fair number of Randalls, but “made in Gladstone MI” means a lot to me. These Marbles check all the boxes, especially the stag …..

These are just a couple of quick photos I took for this thread.

The top bowie is one I made from a CVA kit when I was 24. I used elk antler for the grip. The second one is a knife I put together using a Western blade my dad sent me when I lived in Idaho. He had bought a blade in rough shape for 20 bucks and thought I'd like to play with it. He was as pleased with the results as I was. The bottom bowie is one my friend Kip made and sold to me for a great price.

The top folder is a Cold Steel Ti-lite 6. The next one down is a recent version of a Gerber Mk. II, and the bottom folder is a CRKT, which is my EDC.

I'm obviously not a collector, but I have accumulated quite a few over the years. These are a few of my favorites.

I think that it is "cool" that I haven't lost or broken this one during the past 53 years (purchased when I was 12 at Sears Roebuck). I think that the Bear's head sealed the deal for me back then.

This Benchmade, that I purchased just before Christmas last year, has really grown on me, and I carry it most days.

I've already put my contribution in on Post #24.

I'm not all that knowledgable on the subject of knives, etc, but I've just found this image on Google which I thought I might share with other members like myself.

I've actually carried a Cold Steel Ti-Lite VI for a few years now, but I'm in the process of phasing it out for something smaller, lighter, more ambidextrous, and all around more practical as a multi-purpose EDC knife.

Default Your "COOLEST" Knife?

Decided to add one more. It is cool because of how I obtained it. In the 1970s car seats became mandatory in California. Unfortunately too many people were not versed in getting kids out in an emergency and several children burned to death in auto accidents. Our sheriff decided to issuse a knife for all deputies to carry. This is what I was issued. I never needed to use it but another deputy did and saved a child from burning to death.

"Coolest" for me is a toss up.

For sheer size there's this one from down under, a semi custom by Svord of New Zealand, the Ned Kelly Toothpick.

Second is this pre 1900 straight razor I came across in a box of miscellaneous items at a local gunshow. The inlays on the handle and selective fire bluing on the blade are touches you really don't see after WW1.

Not exactly a knife. Nazi dagger that my Dad brought home from WWII. It was at our house when I was a little kid. I understand there are phonies out there. Have tried to research it a few times, with no luck. It still has some cosmoline on it. Have the scabbard with it. Never cleaned it or anything. Bob

Well folks, it seems that I'll soon have an even cooler knife in my possession.

I just ordered a Buck 639 Fieldmate online!

The 639 Fieldmate is essentially a miniature Buckmaster 185 LT. They're quite rare, but surprisingly still reasonably priced (when you can find one) compared to its bigger brothers the 184 and 185 LT.

Your "COOLEST" Knife?-buck_639_fieldmate-jpg

You can see the family resemblance it shares with the 184/185 by comparing it to my Rothco Ramster (184 Clone) in the OP.

Not a big knife guy but I love this one.
Arno Bernard Bateleur. Basically a trout and bird knife with Giraffe bone scales.

I think I just scored my ‘coolest’ knife.

It’s the MiniMaster 184, a tiny, perfectly-machined copy of the BuckMaster184.

I believe 200 were made.

Well... since nearly everyone is not adhering to the one knife rule... here are my contributions:

Picking one favorite... probably wasn't going to happen! However, I do have a favorite child and dog!

For me, it's this KA-BAR USMC fighting knife from WWII that my Step-Dad (a USMC Cpl.), made into a "theater knife" while aboard ship en-route to a deployment in the Pacific.

He passed in 1996, and the knife is a cherished possession.

That is just off the charts for fans of Buck knives, which I am.

It's a toss up, but I do tend to favour the one with the lanyard.

I'm prejudice, to me that is the coolest knife of the show. It's old, has a history that hopefully won't be repeated, and it's as issued without cleanup. It doesn't get better than that.

Some real nice knives on here. Would like to take my pick. 😁
Here is my best three. Randall #5 that my father had made for me in 1961 and 2 Olson’s, a bird and trout and a general purpose hunting knife.
The Randall is semi-retired but the Olson’s are used pretty regularly.

I'll toss in another. It's the only Arno Bernard Sr. camp knife I have seen. It has an 8 inch blade and mammoth ivory scales. The papers that came with it said the mammoth tusk was from Siberia and estimated to be 10,000 to 50,000 years old.
