Default New python

Picked up new python today. Can't shoot it yet. Looks beautiful. Trigger pull is fantastic double action four to five pounds. Single action two to three. Lyman digital scale. Will see about accuracy when it warms up. My old model 28 still has a better single action trigger. John

Congratulations. You're going to like that one I believe. I know I do both of mine.

Kudos to Colt They have really done a great job; the new ones are not just a reproduction, they are a reintroduction of the real thing.

Congratulations Jolsen on your purchase of that
CZ/Colt Python 357Mag!

I like my S&Ws, but a Python 357Mag or Anaconda
44Mag would be nice and something different to
have.

I see one of the Big Box Stores has Pythons for under
$1400 every once in a great while.

Thanks for sharing and please give a Range Report
when you get a chance to shoot it.

Love my 4" and looking for a 3". Hopefully I'll get to shoot one next week at the SHOT Show media day.

Thanks to another thread started by 18DAI on the release of the 3", I was able to procure 1st in line at my LGS when the first one arrives. Can't wait, such a work of art, so glad CZ took over the reins too.

A 4 to 5 lb. D/A trigger pull is pretty light for a revolver. I'd be interested to know if that's common among the new Pythons.

Yes the double action trigger pull is very light. Can't try until I am back at campground in WI. Cold up in these parts! Been dry firing and don't like the grooved trigger. Can't remember what my 1963 python was. Stolen 35 years ago.
Below are a couple pics. john

I've never seen a factory revolver with a 4-5 pound trigger pull double action. Not knocking your gun or doubting what you say but that is awfully light. However, if it sets off the primers, that's all you need and you lucked out getting that particular gun. Wish I could get a new Python but not possible at this time. Enjoy yours in good health.

9 to 10 lbs is common for the DA trigger pull and 5 to 6 lbs is common for the SA trigger. Mine was in this range and all the reviews that mention trigger pull weights are in this range. Some thing is off if the weights are below these figures.

I believe Colt's goal is/was
an 8-to 10-pound trigger
pull in DA.

Wondering if the 4-pound
trigger on OP's gun feels
mushy or the trigger return
to reset seems slow or if one
must remove finger to not
impede its return.

Colt replaced originally issued
mainsprings with slightly heavier
ones after complaints of light
primer hits.

Just checked pull again. double action 4to6#. single action 4to5. Trigger in not mushy and reset is normal. checked my 586 and it is 2#single action. Has been shot a lot with full house max loads.
I might spend the $25 to check function at local indoor range.
I have never shot a double action revolver with this smooth trigger pull. I am not a newby,80 years old. Colt woodsman at 15. 50 pistols and revolvers now. john

A revolver with a factory 4-6 pound DA pull? Sounds light to me or you lucked out and got one that has the absolute best in parts and all the dimensions and geometry are perfect. I do wonder if such a light DA pull will be sufficient to ignite some primers.

It's only been a few weeks now.
Since you're a little late to the party.

They leave the factory with an amazing trigger, I'll say that, best production?

I went for the 6" Anaconda first, and now I am looking to get a Python next. I'll have to unload some of my Hunting Rifles first. I think that the quality of these new Colt/CZ Guns exceeds the Original Colts.
