Default Anyone own a Browning BLR?

I owned a steel framed BLR 81 made in Japan in .358 caliber years ago. I liked it but factory ammo was scarce even then. I recently purchased another in .308 caliber and i'm looking forward to using it.
Any other BLR fans?

Smile lever release bolt

I am a Fan. Currently holding out for a BLR
Straight Stock, Gray Synthetic Stocks, Take
Down Model in .308Win, or 300wsm, or 7mm-08.

With their locking lug bolt they are very
accurate like a Bolt Action Rifle. I like how
smooth they cycle.

Recently inspected a brand new non-take
down model in 22-250. It was light, fast
handling, smooth, and the trigger was nice
and broke clean.

On my list.

No, but I'd love to have one in 358. I am still pissed I let one slide through my fingers last year.

I have the 358 and the 243 in the ‘pre’ 81 BLR. Both made in japan. Only problem is finding any spare magazines. High prices, worse than the M52 smith.

I have the blr 30-06. Shot several deer with it over the years. Preferred open sights when I first got it but its been wearing a 4-12x Leupold the past few years. Also have the bl-22 with a Leupold.

My buddy has a .308 he hunts with in upstate NY. His son has one also. They love them. I found spare mags for them years ago. Not cheap but good to have.

Seems like the lever gun demand has gone way up since Yellowstone mania has kicked in.

Never thought I would see BLR going over 1,200.00 old Marlin 336 going for 800.00.

I have a first year Belgium made . 308. It wears a 1.5-5x Leupold and has slain many an Alabama whitetail. Killed a big doe with it back in December. It's also my favorite hog rifle. 180 grain Speer roundnose puts the smackdown on hogs (and deer). Yeah spare magazines are made of unobtanium. I have one that I payed a dear price for but could near double my money for it now, and the rifle is worth 3-4x what I paid. Wish I'd bought a Belgium . 243 to go with it before they got crazy.

Default I am pretty happy with the one that I got in .308 a year ago.

The Miroku people make an excellent gun.

I have had a Japanese .308 BLR for more than a quarter century

If Only I had a second magazine for it

Now the last firearm I purchased last year was a color case hardened, grade I BL-22

I will get it photographed in the next few days and post an image

Default TRW .308 BLR

My deer rifle is a US made TRW rifle from the 80's. I wanted a magazine fed lever action .308.

I got it through an Army buddy who had a TRW connection.

No plans to sell it.

Not a BLR, but I have a BAR in .270, and it’s a great rifle! Accurate, reliable, and beautiful fit and finish. A hunting buddy of of mine is a hard core hunter, he swears by his BLRs. I’ve shot them, and they’re good guns.

I have a bunch of .22 lever guns, and my BL22 is my favorite to shoot... Love the short lever throw action.

Going to have to dig mine out. I like how it eats everything. Kind of like a revolver.

I had a Belgium made .358 many years ago. Ammo was scarce even back then. Gun was quite accurate and got me a few venison dinners. I had a Red Field Widefield 2-7 scope on it.

I found it was easy to resize .308 brass into .358 so I had all the ammo I needed.

My 81 in 308 came with a sales receipt of Dec 1980. I have killed everything from jackrabbits to moose with it and it will be the last rifle to leave the stable. I started with a 2x7 Tasco World class scope when I bought the gun about 1990 then changed to a Leopold 2x7 later. Longest shot was 392 paces at an antelope after a long crawl through a harvested wheat field.
I like them.

Last year my dad gave me his Belgian .308 since he is no longer shooting. Fortunately he got a spare magazine when he bought the rifle. They are great rifles!

Yep, a .358 steel frame. One of my favorite hunting rifles.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think there were any Belgian made .358s. They did make . 358s in the pre-81 model style (just like the Belgian made ones), but made by Miroku/Japan. I had one of those.

Well it was many years I got rid of it well over twenty years ago.

Was a hunter not a collector type and that is what I remember, course that does not mean I remembered right. I sold the gun to another hunter do not remember how much it went for.

Thanks for your post!

I had on in 257 Roberts for a brief time. I really had no interest in that caliber, so let it go. It was a beautiful rifle though.

A friend had one lock up with a jam he couldn't clear one hunting season. He took it home and tore the rifle down, but had a heck of a time getting everything back together and timed right. They're a lot more complex inside than most lever guns.

Any chance you could show us the barrel markings?
I've read of the TRW guns in the Blue Book of Firearms, but i've never seen one. Would really love to have one someday.

Default My .308 came in

Gun shop called me Sat and i picked up the .308 BLR. It looks really good; no visible wear. Now the hunt for a good scope continues. I like the old Japanese made Bushnell Banner and Trophy models. For the money, they are hard to beat imho and are easy to find. I have a nifty 1-3x on my muzzleloader but im loathe to remove it.

I have a Belgian .308 I bought in 1978. Did manage to score a couple of spare magazines about 30 years ago and they were $45 each way back then. Scary thought what they might go for today.

I've got one also but has a standard blue receiver. My first girlfriend bought it for me for Christmas when we were both 17, 37 years ago. She worked at a local Department Store in the shoe department. Best Christmas present I ever got from any girlfriend!
Very accurate and fun to shoot. Shot a bunch of squirrels with it.

I took mine to the woods Saturday. I have a 1.5-5x Leupold on it now but I have an 2.5-8x just sitting on top of the safe,; I may put it on the BLR after deer season is over and I have time to re-sight.

Been watching a Belgian made . 243 on GB, it was over $1300 this morning.

Default This place generally has magazines for them.

In and out of stock, currently mostly out, and pricey. But they do get them in periodically.

While “the look” and “the lines” of the BLR are not my favorite, the action, quality and performance make this small gem a pleasure to shoot.

For a Belgian made gun? That is indeed an excellent buy. Have a look on gunbroker for comparison.

I have one BLR.

A 1986 model in 308 Winchester.

I have two magazines for it.

Very accurate rifle. Right now it has a Leupold 3-9 scope on it.

I have this one, a 308 stainless, special edition. I may have paid too much at the time. Will try to find time to post actual photo with scope that I shot my first wild pig with, many years back. Sorry for the ****** ad photo that made me buy it in the first place.
