Default New (OLD) 1987 Vintage Redhawk

Arrived at my ffl today. Cant wait! Havent had a Redhawk since 1987 when I parted with the one I had, a 357mag Redhawk no less. Oh the regrets. Anyway, this is the bigboy, 44mag, 5.5" barrel, a beautifully maintained gun from the looks of it. Ill find out soon enough though.
I bought this for the sole reason of loading and shooting some very stout loads. I hate beating my 29 up with them.

Ruger almost discontinued the Redhawk in the early/mid 80's because the barrels unscrewed on firing. Then they found the fault was the barrel thread lube. I got an 82 model dirt cheap that way.
Keep a close eye on your barrel.

1987 is "Vintage"?

I'm shooting ammo I reloaded before 1987!

Smiles,

When I was still deer hunting I had a 7 1/2 inch SS .357 Mag and a 7 1/2 inch SS .41 Mag Redhawk. Both were heavyweight stout beasts that made firing even the stoutest loads comfortable and fun. After I quit hunting I decided to sell both to fund some other project and I still regret that decision.

The Redhawk was built around and designed for the 44 Magnum. Not the best trigger in the world but I have no problem trusting mine completely. Took my first handgunned deer with my 5 1/2” 44 Big Red in 1984.

Congratulations on one of the best 44’s ever built. I’d worry more about getting hit by lightning than my barrel falling off one of my (3) Redhawks.

I mispoke, the Redhawk is actually an '84 vintage gun. Its a looker too. I love it when people can have something for so long and really take care of it
He says he shot the gun, didnt say how much but it's real clean, inside and out.
I posted a few pics on the Ruger forum but I van find them on my phone to post them here. Its just a bone stock redhawk though. I assume we all know what they look like.
Hoping its not a blizzard this weekend cause Ima gone shootin.
