Default Parabellum Lange Pistole 08

As I was roaming around the LGS before Christmas, he showed me this Artillerie LP 08 he just brought in. We were running out of time as he wanted to leave to start preparing dinner for the family. I asked him to put it aside for me and we’d discuss details and price in January. Last Friday I saw the gun on display with a price tag of $ 3830. I was a bit surprised and he admitted he forgot to reserve it for me, but no harm since it’s still there. Mmh that could have turned sour. Anyway, we agreed to $ 3400 and I took it home.

We spoke two days later and he mentioned three separate customers came in later that day to purchase it, so the disappointment was on their side thankfully.

It’s a 1917 made DWM Ari with matching numbers including the stock, rod and loading tool. Condition is fair with a nice patina possibly resulting from two world wars.

Sight set at 800 m

With its little brother, 1936 Mauser (S/42) P08

Off to the range. Tried it at both 25 and 50 m, pistol shot very high at both distances, so it’s probably sighted in at 100 m. I’ll have to adjust via the fine setting screw.

I had to aim at the lower target to hit the upper one at 25 m

Very nice artillery. You stole that one.

Take care shooting it, that breechblock is over 100 years old. I would suggest if you want to shoot it much you go over to Pistole Parabellum Pistole Parabellum and pick up a reworked breech block and toggle assembly from GT. that is where failures most often occur.

I had one many years ago, along with several more conventional Lugers. They were cheap back then. Unfortunately I sold off every Luger I had around 30 years ago. In German military handguns I have only one minty P-38 and its original holster remaining, haven't fired it in over 10 years.
