The rifle would be ... AR15
Used one for a couple years and it left a bad impression .
Too much plastic , too small hole ...it just isn't my cup of tea.
The handgun would be any... Glock

Any handgun priced over $999.00
Any 1911... Carried one in the military and it turned me off to the model.

Any "super magnum" revolver, including a . 500 S&W. Just no need.
Any polymer framed anything. I don't have to like them, or have one.
There's a long list of others, I won't bore you.

Any plastic, polyymer (sp?) constructed firearm just doesn't interest me at all.
The closest I ever had was a Nylon 66 and that was in the mid 60's.
Never warmed up to rifle either and sold it.
The novelty guns or Commemoratives are of no interest either.
I never take a glance at NM Rugers, though the 3-screw Rugers SA's are nice. They make interesting projects. The Ruger DA's are of no interest to me
Most everything else conventional, my interest ends with those mfg'd around 1960 or 65.
The earlier the better. Pre WW2 is good, betw the Wars or pre WW1 even better.
I've never owned an AR, AK or SKS. Of no interest. But lots of people like them.
War time German marked is OK. It's just a part of history. I'd have missed out on owning some very nice Luger & P38 pistols and rigs if those markings offended me.
Other Military surplus, like rifles, I don't collect nor accululate. I look for previously hacked items to redeem & reclaim to properly done sporter rifles.
Though the Japanese rifles are not on my watch list either way. No interest in them.

I have a Taurus 431 5 shot 44 special that has a good trigger and always shoots well. But, I was given an older Taurus I framed sized 22s with a hard DA trigger that I can not seam to improve.
I have no Glocks and don't see any in my future.
I don't have any AKs or see owning any.
Those stupid fold out guns.
2 shot derringers
I have a hard time imagining paying for a NAA mini 22
I wouldn't buy a Governor or a Judge.
You could give me a 9mm semi auto. The only one I could even imagine paying for would be an small alloy 1911 copy. Besides, if the time ever comes when I really really need one, there will be plenty around.

Too bad we can't make this a poll retroactively. My vote is for Glocks and ARs.
I tried out a Glock (.40 S&W IIRC) at a range once and 20 years later, to paraphrase Crocodile Dundee's comment about TV "Yup. That's what I shot". Compared to a 1911A1, BHP, any of the first 3 generations of the 39 or even an M&P or Shield it had the ergonomics of a 2X4. Never could find a grip.
A friend tried to interest me in a S&W M&P-15 (or whatever the AR knock-off is called) his son-in-law had won in a raffle. It shot well enough but to borrow another movie line "I said I didn't have any use for one, not that I couldn't use one."
I was also never a big fan of the Python, although I like the action on the old Colt E/I frame revolvers just fine. Never much on tail fins or bouffant hairdos either.
On the other hand I have thought the M38 Bodyguard was the most butt-ugly gun S&W ever made ever since an academy classmate's wife gave him a nickle one for graduation. But I bought one last week.

Any rifle with the term “magnum” after the caliber.
Shotguns? Anything I have to pump. Owned several, never again.
Handgun? Ruger LCR or LCP they just seem like a cheap disservice the legacy of Mr. Ruger.

The Judge and Governor. I had a TC 45/410 in the 89's and got that out of my system.
I used to say glock but got a deal on a model 40 10mm. Then came a Ruger 9mm PCC and it takes glock mags. I could see a glock 9 at the right price as a disposable carry gun.

Any of the modern plastic framed semi's with front slide serrations, fashion cutouts on the slide, and general hipness.
Now I own two.

the gen 5 glocks are good looking to me, if they had thumb safeties i might consider them. but m&p 2.0 really has an amazing aesthetic, performs better than the glock, and has a thumb safety option. i suspect m&p 2.0 will reign for quite some time in all 3 departments and i don't see any contenders in the near future. in terms of modern defensive, military, or police purpose handguns, it's really toss up between m&p 2.0 and glocks. i will never understand the deal with sig p320 and its cousins. the gun looks like a glock and a hipoint had a baby, and it fires by itself.

Looks like Glock is the most hated with Taurus not having much love either. Not having owned a Taurus I was a little surprised. Really though AR platform guns were a real surprise. I own one that I bought for my son to shoot when he was 10 but I don’t really have any love for them.
The 45/410 revolvers were no surprise as were RG and Raven. I owned a similar revolver to an RG that I inherited from an uncle and I was less than impressed. I also had a Raven a friend swapped for a camera flash I had and after shooting 1 box through it I sold it for $25 (1977). After shooting it I figured it was more lethal using it like a rock and hitting someone with it.
A month ago I would have agreed about the Chiapas Rhino but after handling me I was impressed with the construction and originality. But that beast is UGLY!!!

Derringers … any chambering. Just never saw the point in those tiny little guns.
Anything with Nazi marking on it … Screw that noise. I don’t want anything in my hand that was owned by that particular brand of evil.

I bought a Glock last week, I wanted one, I've shot a few, and find them quite user friendly. My model has the size of Commander, but a lot lighter. I can't explain how I can shoot it so well, with the funny trigger feel. It works all the time. It's like a modern hammer, it's not as pretty as your grandfathers, but it sure does work. I like plastic cars too, but just like guns, I collect and shoot the classics. I've never cared to have a flintlock.

I already replied in post #59, but then I thought about it more.
A single action revolver. I don't know why either, as I positively LOVE my DA revolvers, and I LOVE Westerns!! For some reason, the Colt SAA, Ruger Blackhawks, etc. just never struck any kind of chord within me. I am truly perplexed by this, but it's just the way I feel...

Glocks, XD's, and I no longer wish to have anything to do with any 1911 type pistols. The three I had were enough for me. The Colt Combat Commander was the "last straw" and my .45 ACP guns I've had since then all were something none of the 1911's were..reliable.
And I'm about at the point that anything polymer doesn't interest me. Give me steel/SS, DA/SA, and I'm usually OK with it.
