Any Recent Mec Gar 15-rd BHP Magazine Buyers?
I recently acquired 2 new ones on the internet for my SA-35. Went to the range yesterday and stoked both with 14 rounds each (I just never max a mag)
Well, after FTFeeds (via slide release) several times each and decrementing the contents in each mag each time, it wasn't until I got to about 10 in the mag when the FTFeeds stopped with no issues thereafter. Reloaded both again to 14 each. Same thing. Had to get to about 10 rds in each mag before the FTFeeds stopped.
I observed the feed angle in the mag at 14 rds was very slight and seemed to increase as the count got to about 10.
Was curious if anyone else has had this problem, if they might be defective, or if it might take a few "fillings" to "break them in"?
Appreciate any thoughts!

I bought a couple about 2 months ago for my SA-35 and I’ve owned a number of them in the past that I’ve used in older BHP’s and in the SA-35. I’m afraid I can’t offer you much help as I’ve never had a problem with any of them. I believe they also supply the factory mags for the current SA-35 as well. Good luck figuring out your problem.

1) What ammo are you using?
2) Does it feed OK if you slingshot the slide?

While I never have any failures with my assorted 1911 mags, in any of those guns, from time to time I just give up on a BHP mag. All three of my BHP's are tuned by Cylinder & Slide, and sometimes I just give up on a mag for them, and put some tape on it with "bad" written on the tape and put in my "...throw away someday box." I am not sure why some mags just don't feed well, even when I try switching out springs and followers.
I would try some original Browning mags, and when you find some that work, get more of them. I like the mousetrap mags, sure helps with ejecting the mag, esp when the mag safety is removed.
Compared to 1911 mags, which manage to jam the next round into the chamber pretty no matter how the round is positioned, BHP's seen sensitive to slight differences in how the round is presented to the chamber. Sometimes, I just give up on a BHP mag, per above.

I have an early 1980's (PZ) Belgian P35. Lots of failure to feed until I polished the feed ramp. Problem solved, even with "South American" 17 rd mags. It's another gun unfired in probably 30 years. Joe

Thank you all for your thoughts. I will do some more investigation next trip to the range. (FWIW the ammo was Federal FMJ and I previously had success with HP 13-rd mags loaded to 12. I also did not think to try “slingshotting” the slide on the first round)
Again thanks for all the inputs and will be back when i have any additional info.

I was shooting my Hi-Power today with its 15 round Mec Gar, loaded to full capacity. It was as boringly reliable as its always been.

I haven’t had any problems with the 15 round MecGars in my SA-35, the mags and the gun have run flawlessly since I got them in April.
