Default Buck 110 brass cleaning question

I've got a Buck 110 that I've had for a short time, less than 2 years. The brass is tarnishing, as would be expected. I would like to polish it back up and protect it.

Any recommendations that you would have? I was thinking some light cleaning with Simichrome and then a coating of Rem Wax. Please let me know your thoughts so I don't do something dumb.

Any metal polish will work. I’ve even used toothpaste

I’ve always used brasso, only because that’s the metal polish I have on hand. Mine has nice looking wood, so I put a piece of masking tape where the brass and wood meet.

I really like the way the brass weathers!

However, my last 110 is somewhere on Southern Kodiak Island where I lost it after skinning a deer.
There were several before that, so I suppose it could be argued that I did not take care of them. Sure loved them though!

As arjay wrote, any metal polish will work. I've never used toothpaste on a knife, but used it years ago on old tarnished Mepps spinner blades. I normally use Flitz on brass just because that's what I have.

I ALWAYS have a tube of FLITZ laying around. It'll shine up most any metal. Works great on brass.

Everything suggested above will work. I’m partial to Mother’s Mag Polish followed by a bit of Butchers Bowling Alley wax.

I just used the Simichrome, which cleaned the brass extremely well. I then applied a coat of Ren Wax. The knife looks great. Let's see how she wears over time. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and suggestions.

I have always preferred Nevr-Dull to Brasso. Easier to clean up, no residue in difficult-access spots.

FLITZ, BRASSO, MOTHER'S, etc. The trouble is the brass will tarnish once again in short order.

Brasso works fine.

I’ll use something other than Brasso when i run out of Brasso.

That’s unlikely to occur in my lifetime: I buy Brasso at garage sales. Last year I bought 4 cans for $1.00 at a local garage sale. I usually find one or two cans in a Saturday of junking at garage sales so I’m not running low any time soon.

You can see why I don’t experiment with other polishes!

You do what to the brass?

This one is about 35 years old. Maybe in another 35 it will need something.

This is why I put the Ren Wax on it. I'm hoping that retards the tarnishing.

Mothers worked good for me. Both on the 110’s and on the nickel-silver 503’s.

Mine predates the 110 designation and has never been cleaned and won't be. Your idea of what to do is what I would do if I wanted my brass to shine.

My wife uses BAR KEEPERS FRIEND for brass.
You can get it at grocery and WALMART
