I had posted a thread a couple days back inquiring about the Ruger 10/22, and opinions thereof. It seemed almost all were positive. Well yesterday I went and picked up a new 10/22 in stainless, and had a nice scope added to it. Today I took it out for a dialing in session. After about an hour of tweaking the scope, I was able to post about a one inch group from 50 yds. This rifle is definitely fun to shoot and very economical also. So far I'm happy with the purchase!

One inch out of the box is pretty good. Heavy barrel? What ammo?

I got one with the Fajen Legacy stock

I liked it so much I got another just like it but with a holosight instead of a scope.

This is ten rounds at 50 yds about 9 months ago:

The red band is 1.1 inches (5 bullet diameters) in diameter. I've been doing better lately but no pix.

That's a nice looking Ruger. In answer to your question, my barrel is stock, nothing aftermarket. And I was using the American Eagle ammo.

There are a couple of aftermarket parts I would highly recommend. They are not expensive either. First is the extended magazine release. They are available from many makers. it allows a much easier and convenient release.

Second is the auto bolt release. If you have the bolt in the held back position, this piece allows you to release the bolt by just pulling it back and letting it go forward. Otherwise, you have to pull it back and manipulate the slightly awkward bolt release.

The above two are for convenience. For performance, I recommend, at the least, replacing the factory hammer with a drop in Volquartsen replacement. Makes a huge difference in trigger pull and crispness.

Get some 25 round hi cap magazines while they are still cheap and available.
