Posted a WTB ad a few weeks back. Well I finally found one. It's a Lithgow 22 trainer from WW2. Looks just like a full size 303 Enfield Mk III SMLE. Scary accurate. Highly collectable and just a fun gun to shoot.

Here's my little guy enjoying it off the back deck. He was popping cans at 50 yards.

We are definitely putting a dent in the local Wally World supply of 22LR.

Take Care All

I'd like to see some close-ups of the gun if it's convenient.

Since it's a completed auction hope it's okay to post.

These pics are much better than the ones I could take.

I have one of those and they are a great shooting rifle. They are getting harder to find.

That’s cool, what a great gun to create memories with.

Some of my strongest memories of my Dad are our times out in the woods plinking with .22’s. My oldest daughter is 7, I think it’s time I try her shooting again. How old is your son?

The deck is getting a real workout.

I moved into the house in September after my wife and I divorced. Wanted to get my son back to nature and let him enjoy things. Reason why I picked the house is it's on 8 wooded acres.

Here he is getting his first BB gun the classic Red Ryder.

Shortly after that a forum member shot me a chamber adapter for a 30/40 Krag. You can shoot 32 acp or 32 S&W Shorts in it. Here he is enjoying my full length 1899 Krag with bayonet fixed.

Lastly Santa brought him a Remington Model 5 Youth.

Last fall enjoying breakfast of bacon, fried potatoes and eggs after sleeping out by the firepit. I built the pit after moving in.

The last year has been a true blessing to me. Thanks guys for all the support through this rough year. The drama still happens weekly with the "X". But I'm hopeful it will get easier over time.

Good show.

Shamelessly promoting my agenda here, I'll take this opportunity to say-

"THAT'S what I'm talking about."

I want the kids to be able to peruse this forum with the adults, looking and learning, and coming to love and understand the WHOLE concept of gun ownership, freedom, and responsibility.
Otherwise, a few funerals down the road, the ideals are perhaps lost forever......

Way to go Bruce! Really cool gun. I have never seen one of those before. I think it's great that you are passing along the shooting heritage to your son. Looks like he is taking to it like a duck to water!

That's a fine looking boy you have there, Bruce. I love your set-up there on your eight acres, shooting off the porch, fire pit and all. What a wonderful place for a kid! (Or a dad! )

Ed is a very mature 7and a half. Most folks think he's 9 or 10. He grew up a little fast with what happened with his mother and I.

Here he is around Thanksgiving with my SIG 226(with 22 conversion unit) That's DJ SebagoSon's Son behind him.

A fan of Christine though I won't let him watch the movie. Found one local that's being restored. Once finished the owner is going to give us a ride.

Finished off that day with a hike to the spot where John Wilkes Booth was shot. I give him a very diverse nature of history, hiking, shooting, fishing, bike riding all the stuff young men should be doing.

We're also very active in Cub Scouts. Here he is coming out of the Pinewood Derby this year. Last year we walked away with Best Car and 1st Place in his class. This year zip. But it was still fun building the car. I told him that HMMWV was not very aerodynamic. But he wanted to build it anyway.

Have him this weekend so tonight it's brats and the Desert Rats with Richard Burton.

Awesome! I now know what I want to buy for my little guy. He just turned three yesterday so I'll have to buy it now and hold on to it for a few years.

Man, I am envious of 8 wooded acres in Northern Virginia. I used to spend two weeks every quarter training at Fort A.P. Hill. We would do one week of weapons training on the ranges and one week of SERE primer/refresher training stumbling around in the woods in the dark. I miss those days and I miss that region. your little guy is lucky indeed.

ETA: I just noticed the reference to "Christine" When I was in Boat Operations, Submarine Refit Site 1, Holy Loch Scotland we had a boat that we called Christine. Not everybody got it, until they tried to coxswain the damned thing... it had a mind of its own... just like "Christine".

Para we have soldiered on the same ground I retired from there in 1999. I take it you were Navy? What time frame were you there?

Worked many times with the Navy on that base. Master Chief Wagner ring any bells?

Yeah if you want a Enfield trainer better snag one for the little guy now. I know where there are a couple more if interested. You do see them hit GB and AA every so often. Just be careful what you buy. Lot's of fakes and rebuilds out there. Hit me direct if you want some pointers to make sure you get a legit and collectable one.

Oh one last thing I forgot to mention. I'm about 10 miles from Port Royal. Just on the back side of the "Hill". If your ever down this way again stop in and shoot a few.

Take Care

I LOVE the look on his face. That young man has the look of true joy and excitement . . . just as it should be!

Congratulations!

Tom if our eyes at this age could hit a can at 50 yrds with iron sights we'd be smiling too

Honestly it's the best way to build character and self esteem.

I also think we have found our turkey shoot rifle for next fall.

Yep, Navy. LOL... yeah... Master Chief Wagner rings a bell... except he had just made Chief when I left SBU-20. I was there from 1989 - 1991.

I'll take you up on that invite to shoot. Not sure when... but I will definitely be up that way withing the next couple of years.

Nice pics. I am looking forward with anticipation to when my son reaches the ages of being able to do those things. Being a Father is a true blessing.
