I have a new python and ran into a problem ? The cylinder on the python is a bit shorter than an N-frame Smith ( 27-28 ) . 357 magnum cast bullet loads that fit in the Smith were too long for the Colt . So now I'm wondering if the Keith swc will be too long in the Colt Anaconda unless you crimp over the front driving band . I have 2 model 29's and the Keith swc fits in them just fine . Looking forward to more info on the Anaconda . Regards Paul

Been thinking about a 4” Anaconda, but kinda waiting to see if a 45 version is in the pipeline. Could get both, I suppose.
Does anyone know if the new Anaconda fits an N frame holster?

Yea, I wanted to make sure as many forum members as possible join me on the "Ramen Noodle" diet....
cowboy4evr - I haven't measured cylinder length on my 6 inch Anaconda, but so far, any .44's I have loaded for my N frames have fit without issue. Cast 250 gr WFN crimped in the groove are fine. Don't have my gun in front of me to measure, but now that I think about it, I hear Colt is considering adding the .454 Casull, so longer than an N frame.
CH4 - The couple N frame leather holsters I tried were too tight and would have stretched if forced. It seems to me Anaconda's are about between an N frame and a Redhawk in size. Lots of confusion about Anaconda holsters, as a lot of manufacturers don't specify between the new and older version, and they do not interchange, unless its a generic nylon holster.

If I were not trying unsuccessfully to downsize, I might look into one. I think my 4" 629 and 5" M29 will have to do

My 629 will do everything that colt will do, and I can do a lot of other things with $1500, so I’ll sit tight.

The Anaconda has plenty of length in the cylinder. The rumor mill says Colt did this so the 454 Casull can be an option in the future.

As much as I greatly appreciate the heads up, I think I'm going to go cadmike's route and sit tight for awhile. I still have to pay off a 57, a 13-4 and a CS40. My conscience won't let me add another $1600 right now, but it's killing me.

4" Anaconda
I got one. Will post pic when I can. Really well done by Colt. Beautiful finish, great trigger. Put 30 rounds of 240 grain WWB thru it. Shot great. Accurate but stout. .44 mag is not for the plinking crowd. Specials next time out. Specials seem more available from what I see.
I honestly think the current manufacture Colt revolvers are better than Smiths and I never thought I would say that

Is the grip frame the same size as the Python? How does it compare to the N grip frame?

Surprisingly the L-frame 686 & K-frame 66-8 have longer cylinders than N-frames & can handle longer COALs.

I agree. If I do get one, I'll wait for the prices to drop like the Pythons did.

Same grip frame - Both new and old Python stocks and new Anaconda's interchange. Old model Anaconda's use their own size. To me, feel in the hand is roughly like an N frame, but different, if that makes sense?

Buying guns just to enjoy and appreciate them may be pretty common amongst the good folks on this forum, even if said guns cannot do anything the guns they already own can't. Just saying.

I really really hope this comes true. “TITANOBOA” seems like an appropriate name. I’m also wanting to see a 41 magnum named “SIDEWINDER” show up, but alas.
