Default Elk grips

A couple of quick, dirty cellphone pics, because I didn't want to drag out the lights.

Just in: a new set of stag grips, made from elk antler. The photos really don't do these justice. The fit is excellent. They also feature a very nice polish and depth of color, something that doesn't come through in the photos. There's no excess bulk like that usually found in stag grips. They have nearly the same dimensions as factory grips.

I think I've finally found the perfect grips for this particular gun. You can find their maker on the site which shall not be named, under the handle of cactusgripper. Highly recommend.

Now, I think I'll watch Longmire.

Very nice. I've been looking for same for a couple of my 1911s. However I do like just a little extra thicness over factory panels - not real thick but just enough to notice.

These mimic the thickness of factory grips along the centerline, but they don't taper quite as much toward the edge. So, they are a bit thicker than standard, but not terribly so.

Great looking grips and pistol.

I like a little more substantial grips and found these. They’re not a great deal heavier but enough to fill my hand better than factory grips.

None that I could find. Just his presence on the unmentionable site.

A note on the stag grips.

Today was the first shooting session with them in place. Their thickness is standard on the centerline, but they don't taper as much toward the outter edge, so they're slightly thicker overall, but hardly the massive slabs of antler like so many grips of the type. The texture of the bark also lends a nice grippy feel. The result is a very nice fit to the hand that anchors the gun in-hand as if it grew there. Considering my arthritis, this is a big bonus and a very nice surprise. I bought them for the sex appeal, but the practical benefits are certainly value added.

Very nice grips...and very nice as well regarding the mods to your CZ-1911.

I love retro 1911s that provide subtle touches to improve handling/performance and yet stop short of the beavertail,
3 hole trigger, and 3 dot Novak rip-offs that seem to be required by some.

Everything you need, nothing you don't, and it looks good doing it.

Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I was going for the look of a mid-20th century piece, before custom meant all wild and crazy. I'm very happy with how it turned out, and it's become my favorite shooter.
