I agree, 300 bucks for either a P226 or P228 is a great price. However, Sig's Nitron finish is VERY abrasive and these guns require that they be run very well lubed with grease. Otherwise that Nitron finish can chew up the slide rails and barrel pretty quickly. I learned with my P239, oil is NOT sufficient for a Sig with a Nitron finished slide. BTW, Nitron is flat black and the Bi-tones with the stainless slide can be run with oil, provided they have the aluminum frame. For an all natural finish Stainless Sig, grease is still recomended because stainless rubbing on stainless has a tendancy to gall. Also, if it is an older P228, it may have a blued finish instead of Nitron, in which case oil is sufficient. Bottomline, there are things that you will want to look for with any recent Sig. To that end, the following is a link that highlights what to look for.

BTW, they are great guns despite that Nitron finish and it's warts. My P239 has been 100% flawless with any ammo I have fed it and I have managed to shoot a sub 1 inch group with it off a bench rest at 40 feet. I recently purchased a P229 Elite Stainless and my last trip to the range with this gun produced a 1.5 inch, 7 shot grouping, from a 10 shot string at 60 feet shooting offhand supported. If it weren't for those 3 darn flyers...
