Neat idea...but...I don't know.

Sorry, I don't have one Aussie.

I do have a few questions please about this...

How much is the ammo and brass? Readily available at local dealers everywhere?
How do you load the brass when you can't even find it because it's thrown everywhere?
Who makes the dies?
Is the bullet diameter .500 or .510?
Do you think the name of the cartridge has anything to do with how popular it will become?

I really don't see it becoming as popular as the .500 S&W or .17HMR did overnight. Really, those two cartridges seem to have set the standard of new cartridges catching on...everything has to be right, for which both of those...it was.

Sorry for the drift.
I do that sometimes.

A much less expensive way to shoot this round. The 1911 made by GI that shoots this round runs $3000. I like the 50 GI round.

I called up the company who makes the gun a few years ago. The reason was I wanted to buy some of the bullets to use for my 500. I don't remember what weight there were off the top of my head but I think Rainier made them for GI. I called Rainier and they would only sell them to GI and they gave me his number to call. I talked to him in depth about the bullets and he was willing to sell them to me, but Inever ordered any. I think they were 200gr which at the time I couldn't find any that size anywhere else. At the time, he was the only one selling the brass, the bullets and the dies to load this round, I'm not sure about now. It's an interesting idea, but the 1911s for it are expensive as hell.

I'll admit I've never heard of the cartridge and it must be hella hard to find.

I looked into the 1911s that GI is making for it and they seem nice but expensive as others have said. I don't really see the need that the 50GI round fills. It has more power than a .45acp, but if you want more power why not go to a 10mm or 460 rowland, and not have to worry about getting new reloading equipment.

As far as using it in a Glock I think I'll pass on that experience, I like my fingers just the way they are.

I am reloading 240gr XTP's in my 460 S&W Mag and I can find components for that.

It will generate more than 2000 foot pounds of energy vs under 500 for the 50.
