It is a good cartridge, but it has to be reloaded and brass is hard to find. An '86 in good condition would be a bargain at $2,000.

Believe it or not, I have a 24" model 1886 in 33 WCF. I found it used in a local shop some years ago. Mine is not for sale, sorry to say. I wish you luck on your search, as it is a great shooter. Formed brass is readily available from Buffalo Arms. That's where I got mine. I also have an original box of factory ammo I found at another local shop. The cases are nothing more than .45/70 cases necked down to .338. My brass is head-stamped R-P .45/70 Govt because it is formed. Bullets are another story. Hornady recently discontinued the .338" 200 gr RNFP. However, any .338" bullet will work, as long as you don't load the magazine with pointy bullets. You simply have a 2 shot gun, one in the magazine and one in the chamber. I am hoping to try some of the new Hornady leverevolution bullets they are loading in the .338 Marlin once they become available as component bullets to handloaders.

If you need reloading supplies for the .33 Winchester, I just spotted some yesterday/ The shop is called Beecrofts, their number is 518-753-4402.
