Is S&W really making the M&P15 chambered in soviet 5,45x39? If so, what is the "street price" for one and where might I find one?

Yes and "it depends" (on the EBR shortage rate and scalper's rate in your area). Maybe just under a grand to 1200 depending on who you get it from.

I was offered one at a gun show for 9 bills, but the only ammo I've seen for them has all been corrosive. Guess I'll just stick with the 5.56 X 45.

Academy in Houston had one NIB for about $1100 a few weeks ago. It was on the shelf much longer than other similar rifles in .223/5.56. I looked at it but could not see any reason for buying it.

As hard as it is to find ammo I wouldn't buy a rifle that fires ammo that is even harder to find.
