If anyone else in California is interested in the 4" Redhawk .45 Colt like I am, here is the email I sent to Ruger and their reply.

To whom it may concern:
I would like to purchase the stainless Redhawk .45 Colt with the 4" barrel (Model KRH-45-4). I live in California and would place my order as soon as the gun was added to the State's Roster of Handguns Approved for Sale. Do you have plans to add this revolver to the list? If so, what is the expected timeline?
Thank you,

Response:
Testing has been concluded by the independent lab and is now waiting for approval from the State of Calif. We do not have a time frame of how long this may take.

If you need further information, please visit our website at www****ger.com or contact us at:

Revolvers, shotguns, rifles, 10/22 Charger Pistol: (603) 865-2442
Pistols: (928) 778-6555
Serial Number History Information: (603) 865-2424

So if anyone else is interested sound like it won't be to much longer. Just thought I would pass this along.

I've heard rumors that due to the recent court ruling that incorporates the 2nd amendment, the safe handgun roster may be soon challenged in CA. I would love to see that law go away. All the model 10s, etc. that would then be available, oh please, please, please!

I've also heard of potential challenges to the CA AWB based on Heller. I certainly hope so.

You're going to like the Ruger. I wish they offered it in a .454 Cassull/.45 Colt like the Super Redhawk Alaskan. So I bought the Alaskan, and it's as accurate as the Redhawk out to 25 yards.

I considered the Alaskan since it is on the list, but it wasn't what I wanted so I've been waiting. If Ruger had said they weren't going to make it CA approved, I probably would have got the Alaskan.

If you do get a Redhawk in .45 LC, check the chambers, as the 5.5" 45LC Redhawk I once owned had chambers that were too big...sometimes cases would split, and not due to overloading or pressure, as I only shot mild loads in it.

I really like my Redhawk. 45 Colt, 7.5" barrel, nice Hogue grips, ElPaso holster and some of the hottest loads that Buffalo Bore has produced, feels good in the woods.
I am thinking of a 4" however, easier packing?
