I didn't want to hijack shooboy's thread, so I'll ask my question here. Who are the most well known Browning Hi Power gunsmiths?

Wayne Novak at <span class="ev_code_RED">novaksights.com</span>
Austin F. Behlert did a lot of BHP work but he died in 2005.

When I had a Hi-Power built I choose Jim Garthwaite. There are a lot of good Hi-Power guys out there, but I chose Jim for a couple of reasons, first, his name almost always comes up when discussing 1911 and/or Hi-Power 'smiths and second, he is a one man shop so you KNOW who will be doing the work. I have had Jim build me this Hi-Power and several 1911's and have always been pleased with his work. You can find Jim here http://www.garthwaite.com/
Here's the FN Hi-Power he did for me.

Both Wayne Novak and Bill Laughridge {Cylinder&Slide} have built Hi-Powers for me and I have been more than pleased. Dick Heinie also built a 40S&W Browning for me but I don't think he is currently taking new orders.

I believe that the grip maker - Kim Ahrends, does or use to do work on HP's.

Both C&S and Novaks do excellent work. My problem with places like this is you really don't know who will be working on your pistol other than it won't be Wayne or Bill. You send your gun in and it is assigned to one of the house 'smiths, personally, I'd rather know exactly who is working on my gun. This is in no way a knock on Novaks, C&S or other shops like this, just my personal preference.

I'd always heard that Cylinder and Slide are the premier Hi-Power gunsmiths
