Hi everyone, I've got a chance to pick up this very nice stainless Walther TPH in .22lr, complete with 3 factory Walther mags. Just wondering what it may be worth as shown. Thanks for your help, this is a USA made version by the way, Shoo

I have one that is blue, not stainless steel, that I bought about 15 years ago for $400. The extra magazines are difficult to find now in .22 LR.

So, if it was mistagged as a used Walther P22 and priced at $249 you would buy it ??? Shoo

Unequivocally, yes.
Just know that your new pistol hales from The South- Alabama to be correct.
I am not up on the specifics as to when the importation stopped or when the wholesale channel dried up of the German manufactured ones. I do know that they were expensive then, and they are still expensive currently if found.
I do own one of the stainless versions of a baby Browning though.

Couple of months ago, I saw one for sale at a shop I frequent. Nice gun but gun & one mag only was maked $499.99. Cute but wasn't worth the money to me.
Stopped in again a few weeks later. Gun was gone. And this shop isn't one to dicker much on price. Especially recently.

If you don't buy it, someone else will. That's an ethical question and I will stay out of that. A local shop has one priced at $550. That's too much for me. Essentially, it is a $400 gun, in my view, give or take a bit.
That's not meant to bad-mouth the TPh. They are nice little guns. If I hadn't weakened and bought a Seecamp, I would probably still be using my TPh.

Probably in the price range as noted. However... Interarms made TPH pistols - as opposed to the rare in the U.S. German ones - are notorious for rarely functioning well.

The Interarms / Walther TPH in 22lr usually go for around $450+ that I've seen. Sometimes you can get the box and papers with them in the upper price ranges. The German Walther made ones are normally twice the price, or more if the seller knows what he has.
The TPH in 22 are neat little pistols but the 2 I had were jamm-a-matics. I've heard & read alot of others haveing the same problems but some folks have excellent service from them.
Even with my prior experience with them, I'd buy the one at that price in a minute. It's a keeper if you like it,,and a profit maker if you want to turn it over.

Thanks boys, I appreciate the feedback from all of you. I spoke with the previous owner and he said it really likes Stingers to function well. Other ammo could be problematic at times. Neat little gun nonetheless and a plus with the extra mags. Thanks again, Shoo

Some people may have had problems with jamming, but mine has been 100% reliable with high velocity ammunition. I used to carry my TPH until the powers that be decided that a .22 LR was too small.
It was my TPH that I had with me 11 years ago when I was accosted in San Francisco by three street bums who wanted my camera. The TPH may have been small and it may have been "only" a .22, but you should have seen the look on one bum's face when he saw that I wasn't a helpless victim. I swear that his eyes opened up so big that I thought they were going to fall out of his face.

I have a Beretta 21A in 22RF, and it seems like all the pocket 22's I have handled will only function reliably with High Velocity ammo. Mine will keep 30 rounds on a standard B2 target at 50 ft, but the score won't be very high.

I'd jump on it. The one I had (early production) would only function reliably with Stingers.
I bought one last year with box, two mags, and manual for $350. The mags can be expensive and hard to find. It has been 100% reliable so far with standard or high velocity ammo. I don't shoot the promotional loads though. It's in the mid T033XXX sn range.
They are handy little pistols.

Hi Shoo!
I hope you and Mrs. Shoo are doing well. I had a buddy (LEO) who used to have one that he used as an ankle gun. As mentioned by others, it functioned well with CCI Stingers, but not as well with other ammo. If you buy it, please let me know as I have a brand new Tex Shoemaker (left handed) IWB holster that I would love to gift you with.
Best regards,
Dave

I had one that I received in college from a roommate who had to pay off a debt to me. I loved it, carried it as a back up to the back up and it functioned 100% with Stingers or any of the "higher powered" HP rounds. It had problems with the standard velocity stuff.
I sold it. I now wish I hadn't and might pick up another if it comes across and the price is right.

The one that was stolen from me was excellent, but like others have posted, some people had problems with theirs.

I'd jump on it for $249. The magazines, especially in .22, are scarce and expensive and if that gun comes with three, that's worth an extra $75 IMO. I had one years ago that was very reliable.

Factory .22 magazines for that gun are $100 ea. if you can find one. Most little .22 autos need high speed ammo to function correctly. A friend of mine has a TPH .22. Even the Beretta 950 in .22 short I had would not function with other than high speed.

I sold the only Iver Johnson (TP22; $125, accurate, reliable, blue, same decock features) I ever owned to buy a new TPH about 20 years ago. First time I shot it it bit my badly and reliably jammed. Couldn't wait to get rid on it…
I'm a revolver guy and only own .22 target autos.

The stainless TPH .22 was made by Ranger Arms in Alabama. the same company that made the stainless Walther PPK/s. Their firearms were quality products. I iwn one of the stainless TPH .22's and its functioning has been flawless with quality hi-speed ammo. You are lucky to have found one with 3 magazines at that price.

I have no idea what that one is worth, but mine was not worth much. At best, it was an exercise in futility and I am fortunate I did not bleed to death the way it sliced my hand.
Again, this one only worked with high speed ammo like CCI Mini Mags. I believe I got $450.00 trade value put of it some ten years ago, I had four spare mags, box, papers. Look at the sights the previous owner installed on it. They were easier to see, but did not improve the accuracy.

Mine (Interarms model) is 100% reliable with Mini-Mags. The only problem is the trigger guard is the takedown lever, like on the S&W Model 41, and with my big paws, I've had it open up on firing and scatter parts all over the range. Indoors, thankfully. Thinking of having it drilled and a roll pin installed.

I have a stainless Interarms. It cycles fine with cheap std. .22 ammo, but it is not particularly accurate. I guess I will try some high velocity ammo in it, and see if the accuracy improves.

Don't mean to drift- I had my eye on one awhile back, but snoozed to long and it went over the weekend- in its place I bought this. Added a handful of extra magazines as well. I am guessing there have been at least, 500 / 1000 Plus rounds sent down range so far-- it has NEVER jamed once. Might be just me, but I suspect many of the jam-o-matics are caused by operators gripping-- I know that can happen with a 45 as well. Maybe any S/A for that matter. JMHO

I have a stainless Interarms TPH. It is like new, no scratches, etc. It has spent many years in the safe, has had less than 50 rounds through it. I have three Walthers, the other two have had one factory round through them. I love Walther pistols, and was trained on DA/SA firearms. I want a less expensive .380 pocket pistol to carry around the farm, but the only DA/SA one I have found is a Bursa, and it is an 8 rounder. Kinda big for a pocket pistol.

I bought a stainless Interarms TPH new in 1982. I still carry and shoot it. I never experienced a FTF.

The TP was a different, earlier model, not a DA design . I think it means Taschen Pistole, pocket pistol. TPH means Taschen Pistole Hahn, with hammer.
Did you know that? Not sure from your post.

Too many beautiful little guns like this Walther hampered by, in many instances, problematic .22 ammunition. Give me a .25ACP any day.

Few months back I fell into a WILKINSON Arms, a small .22 auto. Gold anodized frame, blued slide and an EIGHT rd capacity for the mag. On the slide "Sherry" is engraved in script. Found out later that was one of the builders Daughters.
This little thing spits out nine, noisy rds of hi speed .22 LR flawlessly. I was really impressed. And with some judicious sighting...it CAN hit a snake or similar at close range.
I was always a Walther fan....never had a TPH though. This little Wilkinson Arms made me think of finding one.

FYI, this is for everyone that would like to get a value of a handgun.
It will give you a rough estimate for most of the newer guns and a few older as well, what they sold for new and a ball park figure on what they should sell for used .
