I have taken some more photos of my Remington 1894 Model EEO. This shotgun was made in 1898 and was the top of the line with the exception of the Remington Special of which only 4 are known to exist. It is estimated that Remington made around 100 EEO grade shotguns between 1894 and 1910. There is even a Smith & Wesson connection with the gun pictured. I sold my 29-2 I purchased in 1974 in order to make a down payment on this shotgun. This one is a safe queen.

It's a shame they didn't fancy it up a bit!

Thanks for posting the extra pictures. That checkering pattern just blows me away.

If that was mine, I would just have to show it off and shoot a few rounds of trap with it.

Very, very, nice shotgun.

What a beautiful looking shotgun! How do you pump it with such a small fore end? It really is a beauty though.

Great looking shotgun! '94s are nice handling SxS's. Is the engraving signed on that one perhaps??

Did this one make it into Charles Semmer's book?

The Remingtons are vastly under appreciated IMHO by the shotgun collector crowd.
That's good for those that seek them out I guess
The best quality high grades will always draw interest though, no matter the make.

I had one of the 'Specials' a while back to work on and check over. I'll see if I can locate some pics I took of it.

Neat gun! It's nice to see one that's made it a century plus and still looks great. And such a pretty grade as well...

I don't know why you'd make it a safe queen though - you can use and not abuse these things you know.

Last fall I shot a number of pheasants on my South Dakota hunting trips with my Remington model 1889 12 damascus hammer gun using home made black powder loads. It was not in the condition or grade of yours but the bores are shiny and bright and it sure kills roosters with 1 1/8 oz of #5's. Use em like they were designed for!

This one did not make into Charlie’s book. I had corresponded with Charlie several years before he wrote his book but I lost touch with him and did not realize he was writing a book until I saw an ad for it. He did write up my EEO however in Double Gun Journal. I used to run into Charlie at Raton during the BPCR Nationals but I haven’t seen him in several years.
Which one of the Specials did you have? I handled two of them that were auctioned at Butterfields in SF several years ago. I have always dreamed about finding a Special I could afford but I do not think thast will ever happen. For those that do not know the Remington Special sold for $750.00 in 1902. I also saw an old friend there. An EEO I had a chance to own sold there for $10,000. It is the one pictured in Charlie’s book with the Elk scene on the bottom. I actually traded for that one about 25 years ago but sent it back as someone had taken a buffing wheel to the barrels and “corrugated” them.
I actually found an EEO at the Cal Palace Gun Show in SF for $1,000 about 22 years ago but I had just purchased a house and could not raise the funds.

That is a beautiful shotgun. I love vintage Remington long arms. Thanks for sharing.

I can't find the pics of the Special. They were old 35mm,,way before digital. Probably buried somewhere in the pile of important stuff. I had the unmarked/unengraved 'Special'(?) around for a short while. The owner at that time toyed with upgrading it but never went through with it. That was quite a few years ago too.

I did run accross a notation for an E grade that came through for work..
