Has anyone tried the Managed (Lower) Recoil rifle ammo offered by Remington and maybe others?
I got some of the Remington version in .270 last nght. It has a 115 grain bullet, but I don't know the velocity.
It's rated to kill deer cleanly to at least 200 yards with maybe half the normal .270 recoil.
I thought I might try it, as I know that recoil has supposedly caused retinal separations in some older shooters, and being very near-sighted without glasses, I might be a prime candidate for eye problems. (Eye curvature is an issue here.)
I'd rather use this than buy a new .243, if it works out well. I'm very fond of my M-70 Fwt.
And most deer are shot within 200 yards.
But what if I have to shoot a wild pig with it?
For those keeping track of prices, I paid $27.50 at Academy Sports. A box of "normal" 7mm/08 was about ten bucks less. They had most common rifle ammo, if not in many brands and options. PLenty of shotgun shells. NO centerfire handgun ammo save for some Serbian .357's. Not even any .22's!
The salesman said that when a truck comes in, the pistol ammo sells out by noon the next day.
