Anybody like the old 500 series of rifles?

I have 3 of them a 512, 513 and a 550 1 all shoot great. The 512 will keep it under an inch all day long at 50 yards, the 513 is a one hole gun and the 550 1 would probably be close to the 512 except I can't see the target at 50 yards any longer with open sights.

I can't do it any longer but when I was in high school and shortly after I would shoot the 512 almost every weekend. I got so I could hit running rabbits in the head. The 512 has untold thousands of rounds through it and it still shoots as good as ever.

IMHO the Remington 500 series of rifles is some of the best production guns ever built. Why Remington dropped them is a mystery to me.

I'm with you, the Remington 500 series .22 rifles are classics. I have a 513 and a 531T. Both are quite accurate. The 513 has accounted for untold squirrels and is still a fine hunting rifle. I have an old Redfield Bearcat 4X scope on it and the combination is excellent. I've long wanted a 513S and a 550 but haven't located either one yet. The 550 will be the easiest to find and least expensive rifle of the two, no doubt. I wish Remington still made rifles like those.

I have a nice 521T that I bought some years back in remembrance of a friend who taught me the basics of target shooting. He loaned me a 521T that I kept for several years and used to shoot through the entire NRA Junior Marksmanship Program. It also killed a truck load of squirrels during that time! Great little semi-target rifle!

Default 500 Series Remingtons

Stumbled across this thread. Growing up as a boy, my dad had a 512 and grandpa had a 510. They left such a lasting impression I own several of each. 510, 511, 512, 513, 521, 504, 541, 550, 552, 572, 580, 581, 582. Good grief, I forgot how many I really have. Anyone who has ever held one and felt how solid they are would understand!

I've only got one at this time 513T, but I have had many of them.
The one Remington 22 I've always wanted was a 37,but have
never owned one. Like everything else, 500 series was to expensive to produce, so I was replaced with improved cheaper
models.

I competed with a 513T back in the 60's......I have a couple in inventory, break them out periodically, put my old shooting jacket on, sling up and see if I can build those positions like I used to. Mine have thousands of rounds through them and still shoot better than I do. I shoot with a group of retired "sheep dogs" every week and several of us are into old classic rim fire target rifles. We all have 513's. I also have a couple 541's.

I have a 512 that originally belonged to my Dad. Not in to bad of shape!
If I do my part it does its part. Can feed and shoot anything .22LR, L, S, or shotshell if needed, HV, regular, or subsonic. But my being LH, you will not win a speed contest!
Great for working with a youngster, and great for me to have a fun afternoon with open sights!
