I'm gonna tell her you said that.
Great to see the grips. All the various quality "classic" aftermarket grips that are featured here are getting to me.

Those are great Lee, nice find. How do they feel in the hand, should show them to a grip maker and the cowboys would go wild over them. Now if you can find some for the Schofield.

Oh Lee,
Those are as common as ticks on a Georgia Bulldog. How about some for a Bisley?

Kevin Williams

Kevin and Lee
Both very intersting, and nice grips. I like the Bisley the best, with
it ribbon running through the checkering.

Thanks, guys.
Kevin- REAL cowboys don't carry Bizlee's!
Those are fabulous, though, and I mean fabulous.

What I like about these grips (besides the rariy) is the CONDITION. Have you ever noticed that just about all the Roper's you see are in above average condition? You just don't see ragged-out worn-down Ropers. Probably lots of reasons for that but I suspect that since they usually go on neat target guns by target shooters they are just better cared for and used. Awesome grips guys.

Lee - I'm gonna tell Roy on you, which means a fine at next years annual meeting! You should be ashamed showing pics of a C*** on this hallowed site. You as well Kevin! I'm surprised at the depths to which you guys sink.
Who bought those I Frame Ropers from me? Was it you Lee? They were the most unusual ones I ever owned.

I'm impressed with the condition of both pair. Lee's are a bit chrisper than Kevin's. Though they are more fancy.
I some times wonder if the same carver did all Roper stocks. The degree of skill is apparently different from set to set.
Nice wood.

You guys should get together for some deep water fishing off the coast at Dave's. I could send my account manager down to take you out in the boat. Guido is a goooooood boat driver....
Dave- I bought those I frames from you.

Very neat! Who woulda thunk it?
For some reason it puts me in mind of that 4" 38/44 HD with an SA grip frame that one of us bought off GA a few years ago. That was a very cool looking gun...
I think some things don't really need a point to 'em. They're just intrinsically cool.

handejector,
In the photos of the left side panel, it appears there is a lighter colored piece of wood, roughly football in shape, that has been inlet into the wood. It is a beautiful inlet job if it is.
Hard to be sure from the pics.

Nope.
Trees sometimes have tumor-like growths caused by insect damage and/or disease. I have heard them called "burls", "gnodes", and something else I can't remember. I have one sawed off of a water oak log with some interesting grain. I have been watching a black cherry tree grow for about 35 years that has several. I will probably harvest it soon. It has not grown much at all in the last 10 years, and is beginning to decline.
That is what the spot is on the grips- burly grain from such a growth. With a 5X magnifier, you can easily see the grain tubes (pores) extending across the border of that area. They almost got it all out. Another 1/16" or so, and it would be gone!
