Looks like it became a muzzle brake at time 0:29 in the video.
I fully expect clips from this video to appear in the next Alien vs Predator remake.

Agree 100%
And just what did they 'expect' the outcome to be?
I do not even see any entertainment value here, but there are some that will I'm sure.

An interesting demonstration.
A good example of the reason we always carried a spare barrel for the M60 MG (7.62mm) in Vietnam. It doesn't take a long sustained firing, even repeated short bursts will overheat a barrel pretty quickly. I have seen barrels glowing dull orange/red several times. Invariably they are completely shot-out, no longer useful.
Since the suppressor consists of a canister capturing the expanding gases at the muzzle it is understandable that the heat build-up could be extreme.

Not that I probably live anywhere near them, but I don't believe I'd EVER drop a penny for any of their goods or services. Obviously either never had-or paid attention to-the tender instructions of any armed forces weapons instructors.
An old quip just came to mind, don't recall who from..maybe Mark Twain: "No man is completely useless, they can always serve as a bad example."

6C9C674C-B202-4ADF-B98A-646200067E6F.jpgIMHO just a “ reason” to make a video, they don’t care about cost. Normal folks would never think about it.I’ll wait to try this out with a suppressor.

For the same amount of money I could buy a bottle of Balvienie 25 and sit out by my firepit and as a bonus the noise would not piss off the neighbors (at least until I started singing). Plus given the price of ammo, I'd have some change left over.

Not only is the suppressor taken out of service, but also a major component of a combat unit. Which in turn puts the entire unit at risk.

The high heat effect on the relatively thin barrel of the AR/M4 and 249 is not a secret. As I recall, one of Gunner Wade's videos before he retired showed the ability to cook bacon on an M4 barrel. Even significant training in a few Pat Rogers classes with my M4-gery resulted in a pretty hot barrel.
A friend of mine was a SAW dude in his unit. He much preferred the 240 because the barrel would stand up to a lot more hard use. Not my lane, so I'll accept that pronouncement.

I think only stupid people deliberately tear up stuff to get their pic taken or mentioned in a book or paper.....Folks like that I don't even give them a backward glance.

Only shot the 1st generation SAW with the fixed carry handle. I don't believe they issued spare barrels at that time. I was a M-60 gunner and could so the 6-9 round burst but the M-249 cycle rate was about 300 rpm faster on the slow setting and 600 on the fast so you got about a 20-30 round burst.
