Classy rifle and revolver combo from the 50's... (pic)
I posted the other day a "Ho-Hum" rifle and pistol combination, a Marlin Model 60 and Ruger .22/45, a low budget combination: https://smith-wessonforum.com/firearms-knives-other-brands-general-gun-topics/89949-low-budget-rifle-pistol-combo-pic.html
How about something with a little more class? I have had on layaway at a small shop a Winchester Model 62A, external hammer pump .22, serial number puts it being manufactured in 1949. The guy who owns the shop is seldom there, so when I caught him at the shop yesterday, I paid off the rifle, bought a box of cheap Federal .22 ammo and a set of foamy earplugs, and headed to the range. I am normally better prepared for a range visit than that, but the shop is 20 miles from my house, and about a 1/4 mile from the range.
I had nothing to shoot at but empty shotgun hulls at the 25 yard line, fortunately the rifle was sighted dead on. In ten minutes I had run through that box of ammo, the berm was free of empty shotgun shellls, and I was on my way home. A great rifle, accurate, light, shoots .22 shorts as well as Long Rifle. I'll post a better accuracy report later....
Here's a pic of it's companion, a 1954 vintage K .22 Combat Masterpiece. The holster is probably from the 60's, it is made for .38 or .22 S&W Combat Masterpiece. It is marked on the back "Marshalls Sporting Goods, Seattle Wash." and "S&W Combat".
This would have been a pricey combo back in the day!

That 62A is a beauty! Besides S&W revolvers, I have a weakness for old .22 rifles. And the Winchester 62A was one of the best IMHO. Lucky you!

Good lookin' combo. Now you just need an old double hammer/trigger SXS 10 gauge, or maybe a Remington or Ithaca pump scattergun with it to round out the trifecta!

I carried lots of bushytails that Dad shot with a 62A that belongs to his brother. I loved to shoot it when I got older. Shorts were our primary load.
My .22 carry combinations can go several ways. One is a Marlin 81DL and Ruger Mark I. Or how about my Smith 18-3 and a Ruger 10-22 stainless? I moved up the power scale today by adding a Revelation 116 lever action .22 mag (Marlin 57M?) to my old Ruger Single-Six .22 Mag. I shot tube full of hollow points at a steel plate just before dark--very snappy.

don't you miss all the great guns from those days? built the way they should be when someone actually cared about their job and product. probably never again in the mainstream market.
