American classic 1911
Anyone have one of these American classic 1911's made by Metro Arms?
I tried one of these out earlier today, and it seemed like a pretty well made 1911 for the money. It's new ( aside from the 10 rounds fired from it at my pusher's by me and him ) $ 450.00 OTD is the asking price. I'm seriously considering it.

I examined one at my local dealer and it seemed like a very decent 1911.

$450? At that price I would be very surprised if the "American Classic" is made in America...do you know where it's made?

They're made in the Phillipines the same as Rock Island, Charles Daly, et al. Though I believe that these are from a different factory located in Manila and not Armscor products.
Most people who have one seem to like it, same as Rock Island guns and what not.
I don't own one.

If all the parts interchange, what the Hell! You can't fault the price?

Correct .......... they are made in a different factory in the Philppines. They also manufacture Firestorm. As far as I know, they have no affiliation with Amscor.

They look like most other 1911 clones and I believe the parts interchange.
The one I'm looking at looks the same as this one, aside from the grips ......

Well I went for it and added an American Classic 1911 to my collection today. It seems to be a well made 1911 for the price. The slide/frame fit is tight and the finish is nice. The grips are about the only thing I don't like and I'll be replacing them in the near future.
