Thumbs up Buck Knives

I just called Customer Service at Buck. I owned up to the fact that I broke the tip off the blade of my Stockman DW, and was told that it would be fixed or replaced FREE! I restated that I was using it as a pry bar, and she said send it in and they would fix it free. I asked about the $6.95 sharpening that I had heard about while on hold, and she said that would be free, also.

I don't think customer service gets much better than this.

I've got a Buck 110 that the blade lock is slipping. I've been meaning to send it back for repair, but I don't want a replacement knife or even have mine "cleaned up".
I've had it for over 40 years and the wear is wear I put on it.
It has character and I like it that way.
I understand you can request that they do nothing other than fix just what is broken.

I have one in a drawer somewhere that I did the same thing to (an Outback I think?), I'll have to check into this.

Both times I've dealt with Buck Customer Service was great. The first time involved a first edition Model 110. First production models were assembled using a brass pin to hold the lock bar. This pin broke the first time I used it to clean a deer. I returned the knife to Buck with a request that they replace the pin with a stainless steel one, and I'd pay the difference. A week later I received the knife with a stainless pin installed, and a letter stating that all future Buck 110's would be manufactured using stainless. No charge. The second time, my good wife broke the blade off my well worn Stockman while prying the lid off a paint can. I returned the knife with a $20.00 money order asking for only a blade replacement. I received a brand new Stockman back, and the money order. Like stated before, you can't get better than that!

I've used Buck knives for over 35 years and have been well pleased. I have a 301 Stockman that I just plain wore out. I may see what Buck will do with the old girl.

I mosey over to the Buck factory once or twice a year. If you think the people there are nice and polite on the phone, you should try them in person.

It is always a pleasure to stop in, look around the store and take home a factory blem for half price.

I've got a Buck 639 Fieldmate that I broke the blade about 1" past the handle while doing something it was not designed to do, using it as a spear. I called buck and they sent me a free replacement. This is my one and only dealing with their CS people. No charge replacement, no ? asked. Don't get much better than that. This was around 1983-84. Still have the replacement knife and love it. Not my picture but you get the idea.
