760 Remington GameMaster .35 Rem.
I finally found a gun I had been looking for for several years. It is a Rem.
760 GameMaster .35 Remington. It was made in the last year that this
model was made, I believe 1979 or 80. I don't believe more than a box
of shells has been put through it, if that many. Only a couple of minor
marks on it and the receiver plug screws have never even been removed.
I paid $475 for it. Was this a fair price for this gun? I paid it because I
have looked for years with no luck on one of these.

If it's a gun you have been looking for for several years, and this is the first you have found, then I would say it's a fair price. You are happy and I'm sure the seller is happy.

I believe you piad a very fair price for that 760. I've been looking for one in 35 Rem and they're not that easy to find.

As long as you (the buyer) is happy and seller is happy, then the price was right. Thats the key for any transaction....price doesn't matter if all parties are satisfied.

Remington 760
There's one on Gunbroker with a 6X Leupold scope on it for $750 as
the starting bid. Gun looks brand new as if never shot or hunted with
if you're interested.

Congratulations and kudos for good taste!
I have two Remington 7600s, a 30-06 and 35 Whelen. I like 35 Remington, too, but that one I run in a Marlin 336 lever action. A 760/7600 in 35 Remington like yours would be lovely.

Congrats on the new acquisition. I think that is a fair price. I have been looking for one for a couple of years but haven't been able to find one I was willing to buy yet.

Seems a little high to me but, I wasn't the one buying this? If you happy, I'm happy. By the way, I've been known to do this same thing, with guns I've looked for and haven't found, easily. I love the
35 Remington cartridge, I used it on a Russian Boar in Vermont last December. Most underrated cartridge on the American market. My $.02.

I paid almost that much for a 760 .308 carbine last October--like new condition. I was happy to get a carbine in any caliber, but always have my eye out for a .35. My two Marlin 336 sporting carbines are in .35 and I also have the family Remington Model 8 in .35.
I would have had a hard time leaving without one in that condition. Enjoy.

Sounds Good to me..
IIRC, I lucked into a used(slightly) 7600 in 270 about 10 years ago for 425. I did not know much about them and after searching the web, it seemed the big problem was lack of cleaning by the owner that lead to jams. Mine has to be "worked with authority" but is as accurate as a bolt action with the same diameter barrel. A friend had an old old Remington pump, the model escapes me, in 35 Rem and said it was his best Bambi slayer. That big hole seems to kill them quicker. However, he did not like the weight of the old Remington.
Enjoy it!

nothin wrong with the good ol' 35 Remington. The old pump was either a model 14 or 141 (I have a 141, Model 8 auto and Marlin lever). Price sounds fine as you have found out, they aren't crawling around everywhere.

Yeah, I found that out. I had one of the old 141 pumps several years
ago, but sold it because I didn't like how it loaded through that
spiral magazine and I had some trouble with it. The one I just bought
is the newer GameMaster that loads through a clip. I really got lucky
when I found this one. Whoever had it probably never took it into the
woods because it looks almost new.
