A Remington Hepburn original action converted from side lever to under lever. A very few were done by the factory way back when (I think around 25).
This is a contemporary conversion of an orig action done by another gunsmith. I was allowed (!) to polish the new mfg lever casting out as well as the action itself before doing the engraving.
4 straight hours alone in just hand filing out and polishing that lever. Getting too old for that stuff!
Engraving in a style of the period but not any direct copy off of an original rifle other than the 'Remington Schuetzen' lettering. That was hand engraved on the original Schuetzen style target Hepburns. The small 'Hepburn Patent' marking moved fom the left side to a small banner on the top behind the hammer. It was almost gone anyway once the polishing was completed.
It'll most probably be finished up with a case colored hardened finish. I left the hammer and triggers (DST) in their orig but worn finish, not knowing what plans the orig owner has for these.
Something a little different..
