If your barrel has an "S" in a circle below the USMC marking, it was made by Sedgely. They had a contract to produce replacement barrels for the USMC. Some were sold surplus after the war, so you don't know who installed it.
Does the receiver have the Hatcher hole (large gas relief hole drilled on the left side of the receiver)? You may also find a punch mark to the left of the serial number. Both are indicative of USMC possession.
